Default Fake Anderson Connectors?

I’m a little suspicious of the connector on the right. A number of small differences in the moulding.

How do the go on theses tests: https://jts12volt.com.au/counterfeit-anderson-plugs/

But they be just good counterfeit copies; email this company https://www.ctals.com.au/blogs/news/...wer-connectors via info@ctals.com.au. with pics including the connector end; they will know and will doubtless be interested.

The fake ones they sell dont have any writing on them, you might find they are using some new moulds, i doubt they would go to the effort of making them exact when they sell on eBay for $12 for 10

The left plug in my pictures is from 2018 (Jaycar), the other two were bought recently. As a high turnover item, I doubt the middle plug is six years old stock.

Having seen the relative effort made by Chinese companies to imitate diagnostic connectors, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have done similar here. And if they suck people like me in, with a unit price 30¢ lower than others perhaps more authentic, that’s still a huge margin compared to the un-marked connectors.

...and if they are fake ?

I'd still use them if they fitted correctly (but maybe that's just me).

The likely fake will go on my main battery charger. I’ll not buy any more of them, though.

Is that because of performance/reliability concerns or just on principle?

I don't think you should be too concerned. As long as the pin goes in and clips in place.

Principle; if I wanted replicas I’d happily buy SMH or completely plain units.

If the ABS plastic housing is thinner, no slots in contact well or undersize apeture, then it will be fake.
What I see with limited images looks genuine, photos of the ends will help to ID if fake.

Cheers

I only appear when you don't want me

I've conveniently got a 350A Anderson connector laying around, purchased from JAS Oceania under their 'LV' brand.

We might be comparing apples and Durians here but it's got the thinner lettering, and bonus dirt and grime, it's obviously been used and returned to them and then new terminals put in, reboxed and sold to me, because they're absolute flogs.

However, it does imdeed look similar to your suspicious one.

I am somewhat surprised this thing is rated to 600V - you could use this thing to connect up a Tesla Model 3 battery to a caravan

I’m sure it’s just fine, Marty. Been inspected by plenty of people. 🫣

As to the grey plugs, I have been told by the supplier of the middle plug, that they and Jaycar both buy from the official wholesaler - and that the supplier of the plug on the right has been a thorn in their side for fast-and-loose claims of product authenticity.

Yes I bought one of those in Hong Kong but think I may have been ripped off. I'm pretty sure one of the diamonds is fake
