Default Newby..Question ,I have a dilemma. Escort?

Ok Guys,
Be gentle.
I have my LC XU1 V8 HDT Replica on ebay for sale. It is totally a weapon, a bit more than I expected..it was for myself and my wife to run in Historic Sprints and Hillclimbs but I can see the thing in the bushes if she drives it..trust me on that one....So...I was thinking a bit less subtle unit might be in order. I have owned Ford and GMH so I float either side ... Bart's Escort Targa Car on Ebay is a contender as is the Orange CK49 bodyshell on My105.com...
Question..
Is my best option to buy the total unit or work on the stripped CK49 or is there something else out there thats available I dont know about.

No MSN, looking to build or get a Sprint/Hillclimb toy...not interested in track days with other cars...had one written off by a 20 y.o. boofhead...If I am the only one on the track and bend the car...its then my fault.
Barts thing sort of fits but I am hesitating at the $... probably asking is it on the money or not?

You are always better off buying someone elses hard work than starting from stratch with an unknown quantity. If you can work out whether the seller is genuine, they are usually "over-honest", then its worth paying good money for a good project. I've bought and sold Escorts and Capris for the last 5 years and the best buys are usually unfinished projects. Good solid cars are difficult to find and a stripped down project in bits tells you a lot about how it has been put together as well.
As for the GM/Ford thing....I wanted a Torana when I was 17 but I ended up buying a Cortina instead. I've only ever had Fords, (I'm 35 now) and my friends know me as a die-hard blue oval man. What they don't know is that I'd love to buy a Torana, but I just could not handle the grief from my mates at the Capri Club. Holden used to make good cars untill the commonwhore was invented.
