Excellent mate. I'd love to buy a Ghia and use as a daily driver but owning five other cars makes running a sixth that much harder.
The RSOCVIC are having a cruise upto Reefton this Sunday starting from McDonalds Bayswater at 10:00am. If you can make it down, I'm sure there would be a bunch of guys wanting to check out that Ghia.

I saw this advertised recently. The red interior looks great and well kept. Is black the original colour? If so there wouldnt be too many like it, especially in as good a condition. Its a shame it went to a p plater (just kidding) Look after it for a couple of years and you should get more than you paid for it. Cheers.

I think it was originally purple, going by the engine bay / under bonnet/boot colour. I'll get some interior / engine bay pictures up soon.

Are the seats leather or vinyl? I thought all Ghia's were trimmed with a velour type fabric with vinyl only to the backs and sides of the seats... maybe this has been retrimmed?

Very tidy either way... The panels all look very straight too... nice work!

They are advertised as being 'red connex leather', as far as I can tell they are leather. They don't seem to get scorching hot in the sun like vinyl does. I'd say somewhere along the lines it has been re-trimmed, I'd like to hunt down the history of this car eventually.

What clubs are around in Melbourne, Victoria that would be advisable to join?

Plans for my car:
I'd like to be able to source a airfilter box, so far I have only found boxes for the single barrel style carburetter, also my airfilter looks small compared to the ones I've seen on other 2 liter engines.
Put an new immobilizer / alarm in.
Keep the car clean, covered and well maintained.
Find out what the button right of the hand break/break failure warning box does.
Get a spare tyre wheel that matches the four current, (the spare that came with the car was damaged).
Have the exhaust/muffler looked at as the car roars, But it might just be me thinking it's too loud as it did passed roadworthy.
Have the camber bolts welded in as I think they are slipping (somewhere along the line the camber was changed from unadjustable to adjustable).
Put slimmer tyres on when the tread goes as 205 is just a bit too much for the car and I have been advised to do so.

Best club in Victoria to join would be RS Owner's Club - Victoria.

The 'handbrake/brake fail' light, tells you if the handbrake is on and also if there is a failure somwhere in the brake system. There is a 'brake pressure differential valve' in the braking system which detects if there is a drop in pressure in either the front or rear brake circuit. This in turn activates a switch which sends a signal to the warning lamp.

The standard exhaust system had a muffler and a rear resonator... so might be worth checking if the resonator is present if you are worried about noise.

Thanks for the reply, I'm not that silly though (hopefully),
I think you may have miss read something:

Find out what the button right of the hand break/break failure warning box does.

You can see it in the first photo of the second lot of pictures I posted, it's more of a vertical switch then a button I guess.

I have followed the wires of it back, one goes to the neutral battery terminal, the other goes to the display unit (speedo/tacho/temp/fuel/etc).
As far as I can tell it doesn't do anything.

Ahhh whoops... that'll teach me to read things more carefully. I can't quite make out what the switch thing is, but I doubt it is a standard item.

Something I'd just like to make sure,
It seems as though the car is using a bit more than 30 litres per 100km,
(I filled a 60l tank full, reset the odometer, it's on about 150km now and less than half a tank is left).

Does this sound like it needs a tune?
From what I've read, check spark plugs/ leads and air filter.
The air filter is pretty new.

What should a 2ltr engine be getting around?

Mate thats got to be a fuel guage problem surely. Car should do around eight litres per hundred. You could run the tank dry to verify. Carry extra fuel in a can in the boot. If it was using that much there would be black clouds coming out the back.

Well there's no black smoke (or smoke at all), last time I filled was when the needle hit 0, and it took about 60 liters. The contacts in the distributer cap were pretty filthy, so I'll replace that and the spark plugs, maybe leads. Probably best for me to take it for a good drive as mentioned and try benchmark/get an accurate reading of usage. Then take it to the mechanics for a good tune I guess.

oh how i wish.. then again, heavy foot, auto and mild motor wont help my cause..

your fuel tank will be approx. 54litres.
id say find a good mechanic who knows the motors well, and get it tuned properly. and run it on PULP.
my fuel usage went from 15-16l /per 100km to about 10l/ per 100km. [not as good at the moment though :/]
and that was after a good dyno tune. i also have to run it on PULP due to having timing advanced. [pings like **** on standard unleaded]
im interested in that cruise on Sunday too.. might have to check it out!
