I notice there is no mention of the steering wheel radio buttons in the color coding .Is it that you cannot use them with the pioneer unit?

It's there, the blue wire. That steering remote on the LS is a single multiplexing wire remote . If you can get your head unit to command the correct signals to it the it should work. I didn't use a pioneer HU, I had a China satnav unit.
