Ford v Ferrari on TV tonight

Channel 7 in Melbourne, 8.30 PM. I saw it at the cinema when it came out but I will either watch it tonight or record it.

Hope you're adding 25-30min to the end because ch7 always runs late. Had an interview with caddicks husband that only just finished.

Were the GT40's in the movie RHD?

What's the story behind that? Because they were built in the UK?

I always assumed it to be a fully American creation.

yes i watched it again last night, who could tire of doing so.
Great movie done well to me, soso much respect to Ken Miles, what a engineer and driver talk about knowing your machine.
Loved the mateship with Shelby.
Glad he stuck it up the suits alot mind you IF only they knew the technicality Mclaren starting further back.
That suit Beebe wish Shelby gave him the king hit he deserved.
What a time for Ford vs Ferrari that was epic.

Ford UK did all the early development (notice in the film the british accented guy?). Prototypes were made in the UK based on another UK company (Lola).

The GT40 in fact was a full UK creation (besides the ford engine). Then they were shipped to USA where shelby and miles ran them, developed them further and put in a bigger engine etc.

I have never really liked movies with a car theme. Something about all the simulated tyre screetching and engine noises screws with my OCD.

Ford v Ferrari is an exception, I loved this movie. I'm guessing that the story was what made it so compelling, the human element, rather than some berks steeling cars and street racing.

1. The 7.0 litre engine- was developed by Ford, not Shelby nor Ken Miles. Was a talented team that ran the engine on a dyno and simulated running Le Mans in real time with gear changes, pit stops. They pushed the 7.0 till it broke, worked out what needed strengthening and did the simulation again and again....

2. Beebe did not hate Ken Miles, just thought Ken Miles was too much of a risktaker.

3. Ken Miles drove the first Le Mans in the Ford, but he did predict that all the Fords would break down.

4. Enzo Ferrari was not physically present at Le Mans, Henry Ford 11 was.

5. Ford had a big talented team (in addition to Shelby and Miles) involved in redeveloping the Lola which had so much lift and dog handling that a test driver quit saying he would have died had he continued test driving the car.

6. Ken Miles was the guy that drove Henry Ford 11 in the car, not Shelby, and it has not been confirmed Henry Ford 11 burst into tears- but he did wet his pants

But it is a great film, the driving was done in real cars, the Ferraris were replica builds, the Ford was a replica build, and the only CGU were the crowds.

Yeah, I've only seen the movie for the first time tonight after recording it last night.
I have read heaps about it and watched a few real doco's about it.

The movie was really about Miles (and shelby), and it's a good tribute to the real life guy, so I don't mind the fact they skipped the real development and just made it about Miles actually.
It's a worthwhile story to tell, that whole loosely based on real life story dramatization from what would be Miles perspective maybe - like what his family or what shelby and other associates imagined - and the whole ford vs ferrari on the track story line.

So if you think of it as loosely based on a true story, the dramatization of the unsung hero Ken Miles and his role in the success of the gt40... Good movie.
Movies go for subject matter, conflict, plot and character development to grab an audience. It did that well. For facts, read a book, artlice or watch a documentary - they're not made to pack cinemas LOL, but tell it like it really was.
