Default Summernats 2015

Hi All - the following email was received from the Summernats organisers this week. Pls put you name down if you wish to attend this event with the Club.

"Summernats Sunday will be on next year as usual on Sunday 4 January 2015.
If you are interested to attend entry is free.
Organisers have requested that vehicles attending be classic vehicles and not street machinery (unless classic modded) also no new cars unless of special interest or come with a good hard luck tale.
Same as last year, club members and their guests assemble with vehicles in the North East car park at Dickson College from 8.30am to 9.30am.
You will need a sticker and arm band for entry. These will be available at the Dickson car park.
Vehicles will then proceed in convoy to the service station gate where people will guide you into the arena."

The trailer is currently at Dane's in Bungendore. I do not have a tow bar on my new car, so if we want it, someone is going to have to 1, grab the trailer, and 2, bring it to the Nats.

See you all there.

Cheers
Stu

As I understand it Stu, we are supposed to stay, hence the free entry provided by the ACT Council of Motor Clubs - we are supposed to contribute on their behalf for the show and shine factor.

On the other hand, if you have to leave, I am pretty sure they will not stop you, but you will not be allowed back in.

That is my read on it.

Cheers
The other Stu.

May I suggest we get to Dickson college early to get passes and then get to the Nats so we can again grab pole position for our club display? My suggestion? Let's be at the meet area at 8:30 for at 8:45 leave at the latest? I will try to be there a little earlier than 08:30.

Tks for the offer Instig8r. Club trailer carries our tent and other gear. Tents are quite large and given only a few guys are going I dont believe its worth the trouble.

Tks anyway.

Hi John.

Given what you posted in your first post about what the organizers have requested (no new cars) would my xr8 be acceptable?

Cheers,
Garry.

Hi Garry, I expect you car would be the bell of the ball!! Think what they mean in their email is don't bring your 15 year old unmodified Magna or a new Camry etc. your car would be fine.

I will be wearing my club shirt, but will be going with my Akubra for that bit of extra sun protection. Caps are not the best in that sense.

Hi Stu.

Went for a quick fang down to northbourne today at about 2.45, there weren't that many cars getting about. stayed for about 20 mins then came home. It's not like I remember it back in the early days of the Nats.

What time was the cruise on and will there be another?

Cheers,
Garry.

P.S. Thanks for the pics and vid. Nice!

No, no more public street cruises this year. They actually close Northbourne Ave for this at great expense with limited entrants.

If you want to see more, apparently Braddon goes off quite good during the evening. Cops are everywhere though, so most are pretty well behaved, not like yesteryear.

Cheers
Stu
