Default New Project Car?

Am currently looking at buying a new car and am agonising over what to buy.
I work in Sydney but ride the motorbike most days so petrol isn't a huge concern so am basically looking for a V8 I can use on wet days and for carting larger stuff round for a bit of scope of doing modifications myself with the possibility of going crazy and swapping a whole new motor in.

I have been looking at EF/EL XR8 because they are so damn sexy and I could start raiding wreckers for Ghia goodies to put in and later down the track I could put an AU XR8 motor in or a 347 stroker. AU XR8's are pretty cheap at the moment but after owning a AU Fairmont Ghia I am not completely sold on the IRS it doesn't feel as controlled with the tail out as my old XE did if that makes sense.

Thoughts?

Also what kind of wheels are E-series limited too?

Your imagination (and wallet) are your only limits.

Go for what YOU want the most, then educate yourself on what is required for it. My advice is dont compromise on a car you desire (ie: get something second best).

Has anybody on this forum put a Modular V8 in a E series and is it a difficult job?
