Default 2000hp 9.4L V8TT Supercar

http://www.autoblog.com/2011/05/11/2...s-way-into-pr/

Quote:
The Lamborghini Indomable was born from the minds of Daniel Chinchilla Ochoa and Alberto Fernandez Albilares. A concept, it was created as part of a design program sponsored by Lamborghini. Now, however, this conceptual vision is going to become a reality – only it won't be built in Sant'Agata Bolognese.

A company called 215 Racing has acquired the rights to the Indomable design, and it plans to turn out a production version of the design team's rendering. Based in Abington, PA, 215 Racing will produce the car, which will be called the SF22, through its sub-company Mostro Di-Potenza. That name means "Monster Power" in Italian, and the moniker doesn't lie.

According to the company, power for the SF22 will be provided a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 9.4-liter(!) V8 engine. The mill is a General Motors 572, which will be paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox. 215 Racing expects this beast to produce 2,000-horsepower and 2,000 pound-feet of torque. Just a quick recap for you, this isn't a train we're talking about but a road-going two-door that is propelled via its rear wheels.

Of course, any company can claim such dramatic power numbers. So, we can only wait to see just how capable the finished Mostro Di-Potenza SF22 turns out – if indeed salable examples are produced at all. The company plans to build 50 examples total, at a rate of two per month over the course of two years, and says it's now taking orders for mid-2012 deliveries. The initial deposit will only cost you $1,000, but the fully built vehicle will run you close to $950,000. Click past the jump for the full press release and a video that shows off the Indomable concept from all angles.

I just dont understand what this will prove - How much faster will this be compared to a 1000hp supercar?

Wonder what sort of tyres would be fitted to this?

probably have 17 inch wide tyres on the rear...

looks awesome, would go like a cut cat... but thats alot of coin for a souped up supercar.

It doesnt have the 'badge factor', if its a new 'startup' company, will it have enough refinement to justify the price? (considering the small build number as well).

And third, isnt 2000HP to the rear wheels, even from a mid-engined car a bit overkill for anything except the drag strip or salt lake?

Would make a good smoke show though.

Supercars are all about the hightech, not sure a 9.4 litre big block chev/GM engine really qualifies.

And how durable will that engine be considering that VW went to a W16 with 4 turbo's in order to reach their durability targets? And this thing will supposedly have twice the power.

My point is that the Veyron isnt limited by power but tyres and fuel consumption... and it only has 1001hp

2000hp would be damn hard to put to the ground

I'd put my money on the Veyron for a drag race....

I look at it as a modern interpretation of cars likes the pantera italian supercar style with a chunk of yankee v8 muscle behind you.

Have any of you guys driven anything close to 1000 h.p ???
Sure these cars can put power down better and electronics with traction control..
Even at 1000 h.p and the torque that comes with it !!!
2000 h.p is just way too much on a street car ...
Even if it's basically F1 chassis...

Was just thinking about that very same car while reading this thread.....

And, according to him, that car only set him back '100,000' quid lol.

That was the first red victor with the 9.3l motor.......lots of money but he spent that over 30 years so not too crazy when you look at some of the wicked builds here!

Compared to most super cars it's not too bad either and certainly unique.... Quite a lot for a 1960's GM coupe though,

There is a Ford GT TT with 1400HP or so - the guy had a crack at the standing mile record for a modified production car I think. It spun the wheels 1st through 4th - so spinning the wheels at 200km/h. Basically once it got over 6000RPM it would spin up the rears.

seems like a pretty dumb car. how many will be produced, 5 just to prove a point? i doubt this car will be much faster then a 5 litre lamborghini from 0-100, unless it has traction control that cuts off 4 cylinders in first gear, sure it will probably go to 400kmh if they have a heavy gearbox that will handle the torque and with the right gear rations, but it will be a dog around turns, and totally unfeasible to be produced for any market because of fuel economy, servicing, tyres and every other factor that makes this car inpractible and totally not a supercar. "try hard" springs to mind, any company could have been this dumb in the last 100 years of automobile desigining, lump a truck engine into a sports car, put on twin turbos to make it even more powerful, and produce power figures to out-do everyone else, but none do and for good reason.

Wow, that's a bit depressing.........if everyone used your beige cardigan philosophy and never did anything "dumb" like this, what a terribly boring world it would be.
Asides of the negativity that seems to hang around your posts, the last point isn't quite right- ok, maybe most manufacturers don't go quite as far as these guys on the power hunt but I think you'll find that virtually every performance car manufacturer increases the power of the vehicles as models change- lambo, jag, Ferrari, Aston, pagani and the list goes on.... shock horror- let's bring this all the way down to our very own locally manufactured " practical" holdens and fords, surprise surprise, even at their low cost they seem locked in an eternal power struggle!

It may have the power but it WON'T be used...
This built to brag..
Unless it's used for motorsport ??
The Vauxhall Victor doesn't use all the power also...

Fair enough but then again, lots of standard cars are never going to use their full potential either- enthusiasts and hoons excepted.......I'm just glad that we can still have vehicles produced like this at the moment before all the greenies and fun police kill it off.

Those that can afford something like this will only drive it once or twice a blue moon, probably at tracks and high speed runs so practicality wasn't thought about whatsoever with this car and why should it?
2000hp is definitely ridiculous but hell, if they can do it then more power to them.
The fastest i've driven is about 400rwhp in a R33 GTST and that was ballistic on the street once it hit boost. I couldn't imagine what probably 1800rwhp would be like..
There is no point calling this car silly, thats what it was designed for and if completed it certainly looks to meet its purpose.

Don't get me wrong my EBXR has more power at the rears than the V8 super cars at the fly..
I know what massive torque and power is like...

So I see! Personally, 500hp is probably more than I'd ever need or would be able to use regularly but hell, I'd still like to have it!

I'd Probably say That's why they went big block instead of a v12 or new school V8 9.4 litres is a huge motor and it shouldn't be too hard to get to that power figure, NA smallblocks can get 800hp with not too many dramas these days

I still would have gone 429 ford block and went from there but oh well.
Still kind of compromises the original car design a bit considering the motor is 47 times heavier and rather large, can't see real wide tyres fitting on the back

I honestly doubt that. For their displacement, BBCs are reasonably compact and light. Cam in block has it's advantages.
