hi need to say what size engine - although XL only had 2 - 170 and 144.
not definitive answer but here is colour (60's technicolour) for the XP engines rockers and aircleaners (144,170 and 200) http://xpfalcon.kicks-***.net/XPFalc.../1-Engines.htm although the 170 is more red than this photo and the xp's had silver blocks whilst the early falcons xk/xl ( and XM ?) had the silvery green ones mentioned by redxm. if you call earlybirds at thomas town ,vic i am sure he can tell you a rocker /aircleaner/block colour match. i saw an XM engine they had recoed and it had been painted the silvery green block pretty sure the 170 stayed red for rockers and aircleaner and just to add to the confusion :my XK 144 has blue rocker cover and aircleaner:(hard to see -but you get the gist) brett |

So knarf171 is this right.
XK and XL falcons are. 144 CID is a light yellow, cover & air filter. 170 CID is a light blue, cover & filter. these have solid lifters ? And the XM and XP falcons are. 200 CID is gold, cover & filter. 170 CID is dark red, cover & filter. 144 CID I DO NOT KNOW. these have HYD lifters. and all of these motors have 4 main bearings. The 200 CID motor in the XR falcon has the same gold cover and air filter. but it has a 7 main bearing block. same as the 170. and is dark red covers to ? |

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but does anyone know of the paint colour code for the Silvery Green colour used on the XK/XL engine blocks please?
Also would like to know if there's a code for the cream/yellow colour on the 170ci rocker cover and air filter housing. Does anyone reproduce these paints at all??

Good evening,
XK/XL engine paint colour. Is it VHT 131 Ford Green Engine enamel, Ford Green Duplicator DE1617 (with ceramic), VHT Ford Green SP154, Ford Crystal Green Metallic G235L, Ford Green Metallic 4231L Dulon, FALCON XM Green Velvet metallic, Amazon green Duplicolour BFM 0350, Ford Turquoise Duco 4230L, or is Chrysler Turquoise Duplicolour DE1619 the one? XL Air Cleaner. Creamy yellow colour. What paint match? Any ideas formula or close spray can match? If I am using spray can, might as well be as close to orig.,and if paint formula available will use that. Accurate info. would be very much appreciated please. Cheers, Ken |

Actually, my ongoing quest to find the right colour has led me to a colour called SAGE GREEN METALLIC.
Its from the AE Paints colour range. It's codes are: Product# 2605 HTML# 39544D CMYK# 76, 49, 62, 36 RGB# 57, 84, 77 I'm going to get some made up to test out. I have an original block to compare with, so will let you know how it goes.

I am having trouble finding a paint supplier who can supply that paint, my mate (a mechanic) is rebuilding the engine has tried several local suppliers and one in Melbourne, all with no luck. I have asked him to paint the block and head when he has the engine out
Any other suggestions |
