Hey, i agree... no generic fonts, they just get boring... who cares if we use a 'f' from the focus, they were the founders of the club LOL, and fiesta was second in line... lets at least make the design a little stylish

I am happy to go with the "Focus f" in a sticker, when I first started toying with sticker ideas last year the Focus Font was the one I immediately went to....

I suppose I just wanted to make sure that we didnt put a great emphasis on Focus when we have all manner of EuroFords that are part of our club, Modeo, Fiesta, Capri, Escort, Cortina......perhaps I was thinking inclusive rather than exclusive.

if everyone wants the Focus F go for it........

Well, I for one like it. Like Tim said, it's not about the Focus font as much as it is that most (or all?) of the other Euro Fords badges use fairly generic fonts: Mk I Escort being a cursive font much like the FordForums.com.au banner at the top of this and every other page here (much like many other Fords at the time), while most other Euro Fords use a fairly square, generic font.

In my opinion, the sticker design as shown, fits the bill nicely, it's easy to read, simple, classy, and wouldn't look out of place on any of our beloved Euro Fords.

Yes, perhaps it has a slight hint of Focus styling to it, but I don't think that is a bad thing, seeing as that is where the roots of the club come from, and being only a slight hint of Focus styling means it won't look out of place on a Fiesta, Mondeo, Escort (even on a Mk I, because that font also has a classic, timeless quality to it, IMHO) or any other Euro Ford.

I also think that the creative use of the f like that makes it stand out enough to make it more memorable, and gives a slight emphasis on the 'Ford' part.

I like it, it gets my vote, I'd put it on my car, and I think it works really well as well as meeting all the important design criteria.

What does everyone else think? Feel free to disagree with me if you wish, after all, what I've written is just my opinion, your mileage may vary considerably.

O.K. I have a preference for using a white background therefore I'll go for ZETEC's design on post #18. The E.U. stars are a standout and identifiable for people who are from Europe. Stick with the same font type. I'd place them on the rear side windows as I am rather partial to my own sticker "Ford Focus RS" that I have placed below the middle brake light. Also, from a other driver's views you might be looking at our indicators and then you might look at the car and hopefully see the stickers at the same time. (I hope that makes sense).

The one issue I was thinking of is the relevant State/Territory R.T.A. laws (if there are any) and taking into account that an inspection isn't necessary for the first couple of years here is N.S.W., pertaining to the placing of signs/stickers and the size of them. I don't want anyone to go to their mechanic come rego renewal time and for the mechanic to say "sorry mate, the sticker's got to go" because it is illegal. Do you think this is a valid point??

The design we decide on also should be used throughout our (merchandise) i.e. on t-shirts, magazine ads (if we decide to broaden them) etc etc.

There's probably more I need to say, but that'll do for the moment.

Fast Eddie.

Go with the focus font i think... the Focus was a hit in europe, and was the starting point for the club. Also, the fiesta took into account some features of the benchmark focus to make up a class act small car, the fiesta. So, since the focus has set the benchmark for driving involvement in small cars... i think the F is fine. Seriously, are we going to get that picky about an 'F' coming from a focus?

It would be a rather expensive and long process to get something like that made up, how many people in Australia would really know what the stars stand for ?

I dont think we are doing this club/stickers for people from Europe but people from Australia, so the stars really are kind of pointless IMO

The first design can really be placed anywhere you want, it doesnt have to the back window, thats just where Tim had it in the picture that he used.

I doubt there is an issue with stickers being on the rear window for RTA etc, as in another post on the site, there is VZ commy cop car with a big **** sticker on the back window.

I personally think that that design is to much, and not enough people will get what it means.

Its kind of like playing an episode of Catch Phrase .

Tim
I like this design. Its simple and not over the top. Nice and simple, but enough to get people looking.

I have 2 AuFalcon.com stickers on the side of my XR6. They are pretty good stickers. On my side quarter windows

Sorry, John, I wasn't refering to the E-series club, which has a sticker very unique to your club.

I was thinking more about other forums / cruise registries I go out with sometimes.

Eddie - I value your input, and you have raised several valid points, such as size, and of course, your input on the design.

I am not sure how you would go fitting the EU stars onto a sticker and maintain a readable sticker from a distance, while staying less than huge in size. For shirts or logos, it could be easily enough done, but I think it will be too big for a sticker that most people will be willing to put on their car.

I think it's time to ask:

If we make up stickers with design one, is there anyone who would NOT be happy with it, and would want a custom sticker made? I presume custom stickers can be made to order, but expect to pay more for them.

I'll submit the design to get an idea of how much we will be looking at price wise, and what colours are available for that, and relay this information back, while anyone who isn't happy with it can post their preference, and we'll see what we can work out.

I hope everyone is happy with this approach, I am trying to be fair to everyone, while getting the process happening.

Regards, Tim

Can I clear up one thing first?

Do we agree on the Eurofordclub.com sticker above simply on its own first? Seems to be universal praise for it and the car it's stuck to... I definitely am happy to go with 1, it's spot on.

Secondly, do we then keep this more controversial logo sticker seperate for after we get our first stickers done? Gives us more time to ponder/design.

2 stickers then potentially (eventually), number one for the website which fits nicely on rear window and side 3/4 glass on the 3 doors, with a second wallet sized sticker perhaps to be debated later.

Matt drops the spaner and walks away

Ok...here is one of the draft Club Logo's I had, this is in addition to the car sticker which is the website name. Its a bit fuzzy as I had to convert it from ppt. to pdf. then to jpeg so its lost its edge. (shame you cant post pdf files up here).

Now the idea of this logo is that it would be the one to go one anything like letterhead, shirts, hats, other stickers. I suppose I would push this becuase we dont want to become a totally web focused group do we? I mean then we limit ourselves to web people....

Its just an idea and I have a few other designs waiting in the wings, but if everyone feels that the website name should be the club logo too then I guess there is no point putting the others up.....

Todd - the idea looks good, interesting, very imaginative, I can see where you're coming from with it. And yes, the idea of a logo will be something to consider for other things, as you have described. It would be good to see what else you have made up! could be worth starting a new thread on the idea perhaps?

Otherwise, the design has been submitted to get an idea of pricing, as I said I would in my previous post!

Ok guys... We need to sort this out... I honestly think that the design posted on that crappy 2L ()is the way to go! It should be this for the following reasons.

1. It will be easy to read name and get our message accross nice and quickly.
2. It should be simple to have made up.
3. Now i am not a cheap *** or anything but it will be the cheapest to do.
4. No offence to any other people who put in their designs but fordels one seems to be the most accepted up to date.
5. We are still only a small club, if we go out with a crazy looking expensive logo we wont attract as many people as we can with this simplistic design.

Guys i think it is time to put it to a vote... All those in favour of Tims design say "I" all those opposed and wish to wait till another design can be found please say "NHAY"...

"I"

I was going to use the FPV Crest but thought everyone here would object...

And here's the club name in a few different fonts I have on hand.

Oh yeah, and regarding Ian's entries - I do like the top one, though I personally don't want any more Ford badges on my car as it is, plus we would need to get Fords approval to use their badge.

Not sure how easy it would be to read from a long distance but yeah, looks nice there.

Should hear back about prices sometime soon for sizes.
