Man arrested after he leaves vital clue in stolen car at Murray Bridge

Murray Bridge police have arrested a man after he crashed a stolen car into a fence at Murray Bridge overnight.

Just after 2.30am, a local resident reported their green Ford Falcon had just been stolen from outside his home at Murray Bridge.

A short time later the stolen car crashed through a fence on Swanport Road, then reversed out and drove off dumping the car a short distance away in Starling Street.

Police patrols searched the stolen car and found a man’s wallet on the driver’s seat left behind by the suspect.

Patrols attended the nearby address of the wallet owner who matched the description of the driver of the stolen car.

A 19-year-old man from Murray Bridge has been arrested and charged with illegal use and hoon driving. The arrested man has been bailed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court at a later date.

Sadly he doesn't qualify.

We'd be all the better if he did.
