Default THE 60k CHALLENGE .....

As we have so many car experts who know a million reasons why Ford is so bad on here I have a challenge.

Please list for me any or all NEW 5 seat full size sedans with more than 300kw available in Australia today for $60k or less.
The car must be new and covered by full factory warranty.

When you have this huge list can you cut it down to just the RWDs

Then cut it down to V8s.

Now that you have the huge list you can expand it to:

List ANY sub $60k car of any type sold in Australia EVER that demonstrated over 300kw and could do a 13 second 0-400m.

Ok trolls, on your mark, get set.........whinge.......

i'm actually interested in this. By the definition new, Does it have to be 2010-2011 plated? Or do you consider new by the model, IE .. FG 08-10 ..?

European cars are extremely overpriced here in Australia, in the USA 60K would get you a new M3, and 75K would get you a new 911, that’s FPV money for you!!!

In reality if European cars would sell in Australia for anything near what they are sold for in the USA, nobody in their right mind would ever purchase an Australian car, or they would have to sell for significantly less.

Also I’m struggling to understand the point to your thread as 300Kw means jack, so does rear drive in isolation … any car should be analyses and considered as a whole package, purely looking at one stat means jack. E.g. semi-trailers produce 400 – 500 kw of power and several thousand NM of torque, they are rear drive too!, that does not make them exiting cars however …

The point of this thread was to say that you can only get an FPV with the conditions posted.

For some it is about the 0 to 100 and the KW`s.
Who is anybody to judge whether that is right or wrong?

This isn`t aimed at you Polyal... But when HSV had more Kw`s we had our faced rubbed in it and we were constantly viewed as the underdog. Now we have the Kw`s and Ford`s own supporters say it not about the Kw`s its about the gadgets.... Go figure ... for me it`s definately about the kilowatts and the 0 to 100 otherwise i might as well go buy a Camry.

1. Compared to what? Compared to overseas? We are talking about here in Australia and what you can get for the money .... here .... not there.

2.In reality ..... the reality is the price you pay for cars here as we do not pay the same as over there

3. Um .... yes? AND the big .... drum roll please .... point is ..... it means alot to many who buy in this bracket. It wouldn't matter to someone who bought a Hyundai or Toyota but in the bracket it can be more important as having 4 wheels on each corner.

In a 'Ford Forum' it is a very easy rhetorical question to ask and obviously it is very hard for many to answer ..... even with the internet so close to hand for those who might not know off the top of there heads to search and find out.

Funny, when I bought my GT-P in 2008, the less power (KW's) etc never entered the equasion, wasnt even considered. I drove the equivalent Holdungs and preferred the GT's.
If I wanted the most power etc Id have bought an F6 back then and souped it up more.. Power wasn't ever everything in my books.
As proof take a look at what I own now instead of the GT-P..

What makes the euro so good? The badge I'm guessing and the price associated with it. God they have terrible looking interiors, honestly, google your poison then look at the FG, If you still think a c63 or M5 has a better 'looking' interior, go get your head read. I work in a psych hospital, I'll make your bookings. Would you like river views or golf course views?

Oh and GS is the only answer.

And well, F6 depending on your dealer (yeah yeah not a V8 meh) 2 offerings, 1 dealer. Kgo.

GS.

what's your point? is 300kW some magic number above which a car is awesome? is $60k the magic pricepoint below which cars are considered cheap?

Is the GS still <$60k if I splash out on the FPV floormats? the *optional in a $60k car* floormats? LOL. even my poofy hatch came with those.

The $60K asking price for them would taste a bit better if the cars came completely optioned up, for example, LTD interiors or something.

I wouldn't pay $60K for the car just because it has over 300KW, pretty useless in a road going car.

No idea, but for $60K, particularily in 2011 it would be nice to have factory HIDs, full leather interior with a decent sized touch screen system that can play DVDs etc.

That Ford MySync or what ever it is should be a factory standard thing in FPV's range I reckon.

I dont really think it (GS) is a bad car, its just peoples buying habits are shifting. The car id buy for 60k doesnt fit the criteria

Would be great but with FG's built on shoe string budgets and not importing an engine some of the gadgets admitedly have taken a back seat. Dont forget though, there will be FG11.

I do remember not that long ago there was some heated discussions when 'everyone' wanted a back to basics ball tearer ...... they got it and then asked for heated seats .....

Is that on-road? COme to think of it... what is the on-road price of the GS?

A quick look at the RTA web site to work stamp duty and rego costs... doesnt look like there are any cars that pass Flappist's test.

What Flappist, no poll? Have you changed your diet from weet-bix to vegimite on toast?

Back on topic, I can't accept your challenge as I can't think of any other vehicle available in Australia that fits within your criteria. Only the GS. But it's just a basic XR6 with bigger rims, boosted V8 and stickers. All the luxuries take it over the 60k. Guess we all know this.
