My car is a chick magnet (kinda)

Well, today for the third time in the last year, a woman has reversed into my car while it was STATIONARY, PARKED, NOT-FREAKING-MOVING, in a car park. Is this a common problem or do women just get all overwrought and silly in my prescence?

Parking doesn't seem to be the only problem either. I'm not sure whether this was a camry problem or an old person problem, but earlier in the day a camry driven by an old man/woman (didn't get a good look at anything other than a head of white hair) drifted across two lanes with no indication, aiming to sideswipe the front of my much abused XE and then didn't even seem to flinch at the screech of tyres, pall of white smoke (lookee, Neil has declared a new pope!), blasting horn and the screaming of a crazed young man about his newly flat spotted tires. However near misses aren't a hit and the tires are only federals :voldar02: so I aint that worried, I suppose.

Now that the rant's outta the way and I've calmed down a bit, I'd like to say that I know some very good drivers, both male and female, old and young. I also know just as many truly scarily bad drivers in all those demographics. The fact remains that I have only ever been hit by females and the majority of near misses have been middle aged/old men. What I would really like to know is this: Are carpark accidents really this common or am I "over-represented" in the statistics. I just find it hard to believe that moving a car at under 5Km/h without hitting anything is that difficult. Any feedback, advice, questions and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism are most welcome (I don't wanna hear that I'm a hoonish, irresponsible young P-plater, as i already know and admit this).

I almost got hit by an asian woman, probably in her 30s, driving a red Kia hatch of some sort when I was backing out of a shopping centre carpark in the van late last year. She gave me this look.. and I gave her an angry looking "WTF" look.. so she drove off. Wouldn't have been phased if she'd hit the van really. Her little plastic Korean car would've crumbled against my already dented anyway steel... hehe.

As far as carpark carnage is concerned, it depends where you park. My car has never been hit (AFAIK), but I mostly park at uni, and it's not all that busy. I think it's a widely recognised fact that young/middle-aged women in small cars can be something of a hazard, especially in low speed areas. Get a car alarm with a motion/shock/proximity sensor

they say the bulk of insurance payouts are due to car park incidence. about 70% you think there would be enough money to greatly improve car prk space wouldn't you

I wonder if insurance companies have ever done a study on how many accidents involve Camrys, at fault and not at fault. Although I don’t believe that a Camry could never technically be not at fault.

Camry driver:
But sonny I was just turning into a parking spot and this blasted motorcycle ran into the side of me and went straight over my bonnet
Reality:
D***head didn’t look before doing U turn.

Camry driver:
I stopped at an intersection and this great big semi-trailer ran into the back of me.
Reality:
Camry driver stopped at GREEN light wondering which direction he wanted to turn, semi driver had nowhere to go and ran into him.

Camry driver:
This truck stopped in front of me and I ran into him.
Reality:
Broken down semi-trailer in three lane highway with hazard lights on and safety triangles out was ran into by Camry driver who didn’t look any further than six feet in front while driving even though the broken down truck was not in a dangerous place and clearly visible for probably 600 metres.
These are not made up, these are some examples I have seen with my own eyes .

Camry + Stupid (insert race) + (insert gender) = F***ing road hazard.

its funny that you mention Camry's hahaha. Last october in Geelong, after my poor EF blew transmission number 1 (blown number 2 now, but thats a different story) and I had a new Camry renta car, and did $10k of damage to it when I cleaned up some dude in a Territory pulling out of a side road who didnt give way to me. It must be the fact it was grandpa spec gold, or maybe it was just that all Camrys need to be smashed?
