Does anybody know if you can get after market keys made up for an '06 Zetec or do I have to get Ford genuine ones. I really dont need the press button type ones. Thanks in advance.

Since the key contains a security/transmitting chip that communicates with your ECU, I'd say there'd be no other options. But that's not to say they couldn't make a chipped key with no buttons.

Look at getting a Jag/XR5 key, they are the flipblade style. If you have 2 keys in posession already you can introduce a 3rd yourself. If you only have 1, the dealer charges about $30 to program in a 2nd.

Well some guys are buying them off ebay and getting them to work with the Fiesta.. so i dont see why they wouldnt work on the LR>

Apparently they cut the spare key and attach it properly to the flip and then they tune in the Key set.

Excuse my ignorance but I wouldn't mind a flip key either, so whats involved?

Assuming I can find one on ebay, how do I get it programmed? One of the earlier posts suggests I can do this myself. Is this just a sequence of button presses etc or what?

PS - I have an 07 LS Zetec

Cheers

Do you have 2 keys? If so it should be listed on how to program a 3rd one in the owners manual. If you only have 1, its off to the dealers.

Just to make it clear, you need to 2 sets of codings - one for the key transponder, its a little microchip hidden in most euroford keys made after 2000, and a seperate coding for the central locking buttons.
