Default Who's up for an 'inline V8'?

Hilarious stuff-up on 'the motor report', in an article reviewing the FPV GS

LOL!

The GS also doesnt have optional Brembo brakes.

Feel through the pedal is soft, making it poorly matched to the ability of the engine. If you’re looking to drive hard, tick the Brembo box - but have an extra $4000 ready.

I wonder whether they mean RWD with the "inline V8" being the engine and driveline are all inline rather than east west or FWD. Normally they refer to them as a "Straight 6" In this case a Straight 8.

Surely they can't be that stupid. But then again...

Reminds of the story I heard once where a guy was pulled over in his 6 cyl falcon and the grumpy copper ask the driver if his car was a V8. When he popped the bonnet and saw the engine, he asked again if it was a V8.

not as bad as the local ford dealer sending the old man an invite to test the new 335 GT and the latest V6 Turbo falcon from FPV.

its not that hillarious. even when you read ads of old falcons for sale with a 4.0 V6, its not even funny, not everyone is mechanically minded, and most people wouldnt know what the v stands for, but you can still know what they mean when they say 4.0 V6. i used to find it funny people not differentiating v from inline... probably for the first 2 weeks of when i learned the difference when i was 18, then i grew up.

oh come on. Just because you grew up doesn't mean you have to bury your sense of humour. To call an engine "in-line" and "V" at the same time, on a car page, is quite a hilarious stuff-up. Then again, people do have different senses of humour don't they?

if it's a stand in for the XR8 why is it so expensive? ($6000 more than what i paid for my BF Xr8 ute after on road costs in 2007)

Don't want to argue the point too much on here but ..... 4 years on, a Super charged engine, redesigned model and a sedan ..... I would say a bit more expensive yes ... but?

Yes, not everyone is mechanically minded, but what annoys me about it is that you never see any Toyota Corolla adverts saying "1.8 V4", but always come across people thinking Falcons use V6s. Even the imbeciles at ABC said on I think it was the 7:30 Report back in 2007 when Ford were initially going to discontinue production of the I6, they said Ford were discontinuing their "Inline V6". That whole segment was all about trying to nail Ford Australia into the ground when I saw it.

I agree with the article that these cars are under-braked...

Surely Ford/FPV would think so too???

Heck I think the stock Falcon is under-braked for a big heavy car
