Exclamation FPV to go?

Just wondering if anyone has heard what I was told last week, that Ford are considering dropping FPV in favour of inhouse performance upgrades. If true, what do you think the implications may be? :

I strongly doubt it considering that FPV sales and the FPV Brand name are only getting stronger and stronger.

that would be a stupid thing to do!

the reason HSV have such a reputation and a following is because they have been around for damn near 20 years...whereas ford had ESP models, Tickford, FTE, FPV, blah blah blah...all this chopping and changing has a detrimental effect on any public perception people have of ford and their performance models...they really need to just focus on making Really Nice cars and reinforcing the FPV brand name...

Even if FPV wasnt profitable right now, they would be stupid to abandon it.

Since Ford owns 49% of the company it seems pretty much "in-house" but also gets the expertise of Prodrive. To show that it is the best of both worlds, im sure Prodrive had a fair bit of input into the Barra 240T/245T engines in the XR6T and Territory Turbo. Unlike HSV which is a totally seperate company to Holden, i remember last year HSV had to renew Holden trademarks to continue with it's HSV range. It was actually HSV that were under the heat about Holden moving to an "in-house" tuner last year.

How long has the FPV/Prodrive contract to run?
If its coming up for renewal Id say there might be some truth in it.

There has been talk about Ford being unhappy with FPR , but that they were keen to continue road car development with them.

Contract? Far as I know, FPV = 49% Ford owned, 51% Prodrive.

BullИИИИ...

If this was the case the FPV wouldnt be working with Ford to develop the next series of cars as it would be a waste of their time and money... FPV are currently working on the next model as we speak so theres little truth in what you have to say. Theres also story that FPV are working on some upgrades to get FPV / FORD thru the next 18 months with the BF II, more power for the Boss motors to try and combat the VE.

Exactly, it's not as though they they have not done things just a stupid in the past.

Our fav brand has done a lot of things that don't make sense at the time or for that matter in hindsight.

Where is an Aust designed and built small car ???

growing market segment

oh well we will just leave it to other countries lets just import them and bugger the aussie workers

FPV have bucked the large car sales trend and have actually increased sales. Why would Ford get rid of them when they are at their strongest. Duh.

What i would like to see is the Mighty GT and the F6 ect........be made by FORD,and only sent out to FPV for some extra go fast bits and some more individual type styling that us consumers would like as an option.

Would be crazy..... FPV have increased sales by 45% 1st 3 months this year already... 556 units Sold this year is a record and in a market where fuel prices are at a all time high and are going to stay high, this is a outstanding performance.
:king: FPV are going from strength to strength.
Just do it...get in line.:baby bott

That's the biggest load of poo I've seen to date on this forum. After 15 years of trying from Tickford to FTE and now FPV, Ford has finally earned credibility for its performance vehicle division. To close FPV would be suicidal!

Absolutely! And you have to remember, too, that HSV have been discounting the tripe out of their performance cars for the last 6 months.... geez, you can get a Clubsport for under 50 gorillas.
