Default For sale section suggestion

thought id add a poll to the thread cause i was just wondering if i may add a suggestion regarding the for sale section of the forum.... specifically the spare parts section.

was wondering if it could be broken down into groups ie:

*wheels and tyres
*Engines
*Gearbox
*Diff
*Interior
*Audio/electrical
*Body

Feel would help a lot of members in their search for a specific item etc instead of scrolling through pages and pages of mixed up jumble when could goto a specific group to help narrow it down.

just my 2c and again, just a suggestion.
cheers

I think thats a good idea helps everyone find what they want instead of sitting there for hours looking through everything

I kinda like it the way it is. I'm on other forums where they split it by section, and it seems to get very messy.

People have multiple threads etc.

Multiple threads are a no no as per the T&C and we try to merge them as we see them.

I can see the logic behind the suggestion but I think that it would create more of an issue. Too many sub forums can be a bad thing.

cant understand how it could lead to a bad thing, we already have sub forums for near everything else on this forum, whats a couple more for the FS section to make things a little easier? sometimes search is no help either

Good suggestion. Trying to be devils advocate here ..... main problem is people putting stuff in the wrong sections, even though they would be clearly marked. People get narky at the best of times when their threads are moved. Clearly titled headings do help and I spend a bit of time cleaning them up when noticed as I hate wading through to see whats for sale.

It is an area that is very heavily moderated to keep things up to date and clean ..... having to juggle threads around might be painful ..... but don't know. Worth a thought though

Unfortunatley this would be worse ....... also alot of things can be posted and would mean that alot of wading through different areas to find the same item.

I can see the reasoning behind the suggestions but as Russ has eluded to above, it means even more sub sections and personally I think we have too many already!

The bulk of these problems can be resolved by following a few simple rules when posting in that forum:

* Put the state in correctly - every single FS thread identifies what state the item is in by default.

* Put in the thread what items you're actually selling - dont just put "various bits for sale" etc because this stuffs searches right up.

* Multiple threads are a no no, and they will be either joined or simply removed.

Guys to be honest i don't understand how you are all saying that it will make things worse?, how can it ruin things up or make things worse if everything is in order and not all over the place?... It will be way easier to look for something through groups and nothing will be jumbled all over the place. I also think it will be easier to maintain for you moderators. Its just like the ebay website.. when you are looking for a particular thing say a headlight for a certain car you have to type in XA headlights or something along thoughs lines and than it gives you options on the left ahdn side to help you find what u are looking for easier such as....

Car Parts, Accessories
Cars

but in our situation you have what dave has listed such as and that way we don't have to type what we are looking for but just simply look through the groups:
*wheels and tires
*Engines
*Gearbox
*Diff
*Interior
*Audio/electrical
*Body

i guess....

its more probably becasue this site is unsofisticated (respectfully), simple and serves its purpose.

it doesn't have those search mechanisms like some of us are use to with certain programs or other sites and therefore needs less resources.

i personally have no issues finding stuff to be honest i like it, it's like reading a paper or magazine.
