Actually at the moment there is a 100% chance that 40% of the directors have an anti-logo change stance. :P

If you are going to poke fun at my attempt to show people what the 75% really means, at least have a real go of it. :

haha.. I remember entering a few banner options of my own back when it was being decided the first time...

The banner situation is a tough one, you can keep changing to keep things fresh.. but that's more work, and also stuffs up other things - I believe there have been some actual banners printed up for display at car shows, and other merchandise bearing this logo on it. Change the website and suddenly these items become a little out of place.

RE: the fordscript looking bad, that isn't really true - it's just what's been with it. Plain white text with a black surround.. on top of a darkish background isn't the most inspiring thing in the world.

When updating xFalcon a few months back this is what I came up with for some banner variants:

Still only using Fordscript.ttf with some effects.

However I do think updating the FFau banner wouldn't be as easy due to what I mentioned above..

The current one looks crummy only because both edges are suddenly cut off and doesn't blend in with the design, other than that I couldn't care less if it changed.

Why not have a random one, the same style but a different group of cars or single car each time? That would be easy to code. I remember in 2002 I did that with over 60 logos for a site I did.

Time for my ten cents worth.

The script and tag line are immutable at this stage - they are simply used on too many things to readily change them.

I don't have an issue with making a change to the 3 cars that appear on the LHS as the full logo is only used in letterhead and the various PDF files we use so this can be readily changed.

However, the point made above about the relatively small number of votes in this thread is a valid one. I would want to see a decision of this nature being made by somewhat more than 89 people (as it stands presently) before we embarked on consideration of change.

Even if we did embark on such a change then I would be of the view that we would simply change the cars in the picture to be something more representative of the Ford history but from a limited choice otherwise we would end up with hundreds of suggestions.

Changing what you see here - in terms of the web site is easy enough and we could randomly generate different sets of 3 cars quite easily BUT the actual mast as it stands now is used in a lot of other places and for that design one single image needs to be used.

It's only my personal view but I would suggest something along the lines of the following assuming there was enough support for the idea.

CENTRE CAR A choice between an AU or BA performance model.

LH CAR An iconic car - choice between an XY GT, XB Coupe or XE ESP.

RH CAR A choice between an XF S (still the highest production Falcon model); EL GT (polarising though they are), Territory or Focus.

Certainly if we head down this path the choices will be limited to 3 or 4 in each car otherwise we would end up with a meaningless vote.

Cheers
Russ

i think that if changed the cars should be unique cars featured on the AFF pages.

like not a stock(looking)au and stock (looking) ba but cars that really stick out when u think AFF u think of what cars first???

Yes but this topic is 'hidden' away in site support where you would agree has a very low visit rate? Stick this in the bar and see it go stupid!

Having two AU's has always been a bit weird and thought so when this discussion came up many moons ago. Especially when they have such a love hate relationship with people. Love to see another icon up there and agree, one old, one mid and something new! Good topic for discussion!

presonally id like to see a change.

my suggestion would be keep the logo as is(which is the main form of branding - not the cars on the side)
create 10 different banners
each has a well shot photo (taken by forum members - we do have quite a few top notch photographers on here) of forum members cars.
the shots can be close ups or full car or wheel or something a bit more artistic.

and obviously people dont care that much if there type of car is in the banner or not, because at the moment its got 2 AU's and a BA - hardly covering much of the ford spectrum.

if the owners etc of the site are worried about protecting the brand of fordforums.com.au they need to look at a freshen up, because at the moment its looking a bit dated.

existing members dont really mind, but new members or those looking at the site for the first time to judge if its anygood or not may be turned off by the current banner.
whereas a new updated look could convince them to stay abit longer and experience the everything this site has to offer.

ok i understand not changing the font as most have mentioned & agreed with, but the "home page" of the forums is a bit dated, and as you have said, I think a few blokes here could come up with something real catchy and contemporary!

But maybe for future merchandise, could we revise some of the designs for t shirts, hats stickers and make them more appealing?

I just think the old fashioned style of the stickers available are a bit boring and ugly, and most of us don't want them on our vehicles.
Hey i have 3 trucks i am MORE than happy to have big vinyl wraps on the back doors of to promote the forums with no worries!

Agreed! Awesome. Perhaps have say one car representing each era. ie -

XK-XP
XR-XT
XW-XY
XA-XC
XD-XF
EA-EL
AU
BA-BF

And then maybe I guess a Territory, Focus, Fiesta (you know one of them well hark up if left out, they have the XR4 now anyway). etc That RS2000 one looks good too.

Would it be a PIA to have a car on both sides of the banner? Then you could keep more people happy with the one pic as they rotate.
