Default Clutch issue

Hi all,

My partner has a 2007 Focus and tonight she has tried to put it in gear and basically the clutch goes in but she can't get the shifter to move into any of the gears. Unfortunately she's in Canberra and the car is stuck in a carpark..and no RACQ *sigh* Would anyone have any idea on whether the clutch is completely gone or if it might be something not as bad. Car starts etc and everything but as I said can't get the shifter into any gear.

Any help is appreciated.

could be failure of the slave cylinder which if I am correct is inside the bell housing ( at least on diesel models)and not road side serviceable as you need to remove the gearbox If there is no resistance on the clutch pedal that is most likely the problem. Bad news is if the car has done over 100000 klm you probably should replace the clutch if you have the gearbox out for the slave cylinder.

Usually state auto associations have reciprocal roadside services if you're interstate. Have you tried phoning the NRMA to see if they cover the ACT?

Hi. It looks like she cant change gears when the enigine is off, or when it's running. i'm hoping it might be mechanically related and not hydraulic. Arranging towing anyway and see if theres a decent place in Canberra somewhere to get it looked at....
