im new to this ford forums this is my first car a mk2 escort 1600 and its not 100% roadworthy yet i have to change my sump gasket which is leaking i have a new one ive pulled my engine out to fix some rust and give the engine a bit of a touch up i pulled it out with the gear box and have got all the sump bolts off except for the ones which go behind the bellhousing, it looks like the gearbox will come out if the bellhousing bolts come off will this effect my clutch in anyway if removed any more info is appreciated thanks

no mate. your clutch is attatched to your flywheel and wont move. u just have to line it up when u put the gearbox back onto the motor

As you have already got the engine & box out, it's easiest to just remove the bell housing bolts and seperate the engine & box... as long as you don't loosen the 6 pressure plate bolts on the the clutch it will not get distrubed.
It is possible to get the sump off with the gearbox attached (usually when everything is still in the car.. |
