Default Like father, like son: Drag racing duo looses cars

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/drag-r...-1226091419851

Quote:
A FATHER and son have had their cars seized by police after they were allegedly caught drag racing each other on South Rd.
An unmarked police car was sitting behind the pair as they waited for the lights to change at the intersection of Sturt and South roads, Clovelly Park at 4.45pm.
The 56-year-old Everard Park man, driving a Ford XR8 turbo, allegedly took off north on South Rd alongside his son, 27 of Salisbury Park, who was in a Mazda Astina turbo, as the lights turned green.
Police will allege the men reached speeds of about 105km/h when they were pulled over by the officer.
They were charged with misuse of a motor vehicle and both cars have been impounded for 28 days.
I wonder if they meant XR6 Turbo...

Mazda Astina Turbo vs Ford XR8 Turbo. Why would you even bother. Like racing a turtle and a rabbit.

From memory the rabbit was the smaller, lighter, less powerful, more agile one who actually WON the race........

Hence my analogy. The heavy tortoise might have been the Falcon (Big, heavy, strong, lots of wheelspin), and the rabbit might be the Mazda (Small, Light, Quick Off the Line). But either way, two totally different animals.

"Drag racing duo looses car". Well, they should tighten them!

That aside, idiots. Hope they learn their lesson...

wonder how many of these XR8 turbos are getting around. might buy one could be worth something in a few years.

but as stated peak hour on south rd isn't the place to be doing this.
also would like to know how you get above 60 Km/h on south rd at 4.45 its pretty congested by then.

I never knew the Astina came out as a turbo.

Or that they made an XR8 turbo.

Quality journalism at its best.

Serves the knobs right. Loosing the cars for 28 days isn't long enough.
