I think a large number of countries simply don't have the infrastructure or funding to perform large scale testing - for example, the total population of all the countries that have tested less than 1% is 2.3B people and 6.8B for those where less than 10% have been tested so that leaves an awful lot of scope for under-reported cases. For some, we will never get the full picture. I can't see Africa ever getting close to full testing. Indeed, only 1 of the 37 countries that make up the continent has tested more than 10% and only 14 have tested more than 1%. Likewise, only 2 of the 14 South American countries are over 10% testing; 12 of the 49 Asian countries; 6 of the 49 North American countries and even in Europe it's only 19 of the 48. Thus we'll be left guessing what the real fatality rate from infections is simply because we'll never be able to define the actual number of infections - although we might eventually get some localised data that is accurate enough albeit based on very small numbers.

Hows our Mexicans going with the masks? I find I end up fiddling with mine heaps and it comes on/off a fair bit during the day. I've gone to one of those motorcyclist type face coverings as its easier to breathe through. Though its harder to talk through than the normal face mask but the normal one is uncomfortable AF on your ears, it has hair ties and it cuts up behind your ears.
The only thing the mask is doing is protecting me from is Victoria Police I'm suspect on the push for masks, I doubt some ****ing hippy who is making masks from **** bought from Spotlight on her sewing machine is going to do anything about reducing numbers. |

While they are not a panacea, if they slow down the rate of infection then it's a step in the right direction.

Am i the only person who doesnt mind social distancing as its a proper excuse to not have to deal with people? Also doing the polite thing and stepping to the side to let someone pass, these days they actually say thanks. Plus in line to say pay for things, people give a little personal space. Its great. In line, standing way too close doesnt make the line move faster. I like the way that whilst the situation isnt one with any positives, but from a social standpoint, its bought back to a degree some form of etiquette.

I think post Covid, it will take a while for people to feel comfortable in crowds again. I imagine there will be a period of time where people will be less tolerant of others moving into their personal space. But eventually we'll all go back to the way we were. Honestly, if the AFL grand final was to be played at the MCG this year, and we had no restriction, I don't think we would get capacity. |

455 new cases for Australia and 10 deaths sees the CMR rises to 1.076% and active cases rise to 5,229. NSW recorded 14, WA recorded 2 and the balance were in Victoria.
0 new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.414% and active cases remain at 21. The UK recorded 745 new cases and 14 deaths yesterday so the CMR drops to 15.280%. Just over 67k new cases in the USA yesterday and 908 deaths sees CMR down to 3.462% and active cases at 48.8% with the raw numbers still rising. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences. Other notable points: Global deaths pass 650k with the last 50k only taking 8 days; India completes 16M and Saudi Arabia 3M tests; Kenya (960), Dominican Republic (2,012), Iraq (2,862) and India (50,525) all recorded new daily highs, those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

In Australia, 64% of identified cases are in the under 50 age group with males having 137 cases / 100k and females 102/100k.
That obviously leaves 36 % of cases in the over 50 age group at 152/100k for males and 130/100k for females so in both genders the infection rate is higher in the over 50's age group - or less of the under 50's are getting tested. 153 of the 155 deaths have been in the 50+ age group with the CMR worsening as you get older - it's zero up to 40; 0.11% for 40-49; 0.16% for 50-59; 0.84% for 60-69; 4.47% for 70-79 and 16.97% for the over 80's.

Unfortunately flattening this 2nd outbreak will take more time than the first. The first C19 outbreak was in decline by week 3-4. We are now into week 5 of the 2nd outbreak with no seen abatement. |

Did everyone miss this?
Very bold to make the statement even though it's just a projection. If he gets it wrong, Labor bashers will have an absolute field day.

I am glad it has not gone up exponentially; It is never going to be easy to bring it under control the second time around.
It also highlights some of the underlying issues in our society; taking social responsibility, doing the right thing for common good, different communities approaching these issues from different viewpoints, impact of more casual workforce in some industries etc. Time will tell; we will get through this. Just considering ourselves in NSW lucky for the time being. Regards, George V |

Avi Yemini talking about masks
https://twitter.com/OzraeliAvi/statu...232481792?s=09 Makes a lot of sense, the person at Bunnings or the police aren't the people you have a crack at, they're just doing their jobs. |

I did a few years ago until I figured out what it was. Gluten
Could be an allergy or could be that you recently had your gall bladder removed? Removing the gall bladder means your no longer producing the enzyme which breaks down gluten in the gut/intestines as a result the gluten removes the lining from your intestine and leaks directly into the bloodstream and then into the brain causing inflammation and really intense nightmares. Throbbing pain, auditory hallucinations, extreme paranoia, severe anxiety, mood swings, etc. In either case I would start looking at your diet and removing certain ingredients. Start by removing Gluten. |

Starts off mild. Will get more and more intense, some days you wake up thinking you are going to die. Stays with you for about a minute. I've been told it's a panic attack. I had it often during a bad period. Haven't had one for a while now. It's a rush but a really terrible rush.
