So it must be spark ignition direct injection direct injection. The ad was either written by someone with a stutter, or you get two injections before every spark.

Basically it was just an ego trip from the Holden marketing department, who thought, if we can sell the cruze in lots of numbers by saying the door makes a clunk sound when shut, then we can give the engine a fancy name, put a $5 tag on the back of the car, and maybe sell the car for an extra $500 to those just a little bit more gullible.

Well originally they wanted DISI but Mazda took that one. DI has obviously made the motor alot better, it's now competitive with the I6 and in the states puts out as much as 230kw.

Anyone with half a brain would understand that it is not meant to be read like that.
Maybe they should have put some brackets in to make it clearer for some people.

Combustion chamber injection...
Older EFI is direct manifold or port injection...
It mainly helps with EPA...

They don't need it.
Ford's Duratec 37 doesn't need it either to make the same power and torque as GM's SIDI 3.6.
The D37 is within 15 nm of the Falcon's torque in the bottom end and stomps on it above 5,000 rpm.

Yup. Sadly, the I6 is in its last days. It doesn't matter if Falcon stays RWD or not - the I6 will not be around for the next large Ford.

They don't NEED it, but if they have, wouldn't power figures have been up on the already impressive figures?

I've kind of resigned myself to that fact. Hopefully in a year or so with this new job I can get an FGII.

I think they went with SIDI as a marketing term. Sounds like "City" you see?

But to us Ford fans... it's just SHIDI.

Also isnt there more strict emissions for DI engines? Another reason they didn't go DI on the Falcon 6.

Its not just a Holden term, its a global GM term. I wonder if they highlighted the Spark Ignition bit to set it apart from the diesel direct injection systems?

Yes, DI engines must pass a soot test as well- both petrol and diesel.

I think the Ecoboost I-4 will give a huge counterpoint to the 4.0 I-6
and may well be our ace in the hole if fuel prices keep climbing.

Holden's 3.0 SIDI may have stolen the march with 9.0 l/100 km but it cannot match
the 2.0 EB's 8.0 l/100 km, low end torque, weight reduction and 4 cylinder only fleet access.

Game set and match to Ford....

Those are official tests. Real tests have only proven it a few decimels better than the I6.

Heritage. And premium feel generalisation of a straight six.

They should use that in marketing. "Premium 4.0L inline six."

There'll be a whole lot less jobs if pushing to keep the I6 kills local manufacturing altogether.
