42 new cases for Australia and 6 deaths sees the CMR rise to 3.018% and ctive cases drop to 2,475. NSW recorded 8 cases and Queensland 3 with the balance in Victoria. The Victorian State 14 day moving average is now 70.21 with metro at 61.6 and regional at 4.3 but still with 7 unknown. As pointed out yesterday that puts our CMR above the USA for the first time although the cases (3,192 v 148) and deaths (96.5 v 4.4) per 100k are both very different.
2 new cases and zero deaths for NZ so CMR is 1.337% and active cases fall to 108. The UK had 3,497 new cases yesterday. We know they are now not counting their mortalities by the WHO guidelines so we are going to ignore those figures. Just over 47.5k new cases in the USA yesterday and 1,094 deaths sees CMR fall to 2.974% and active cases drop to 38.0% with the raw numbers rising again. Note that the USA is actually minus one day due to time differences. Other notable points: Global new cases recorded a record high of 310,692; The USA completes 91M, India 55M, Russia 40M, UAE 8M, Canada 6M and Azerbaijan 1M tests; Europe records a new daily high of 41,055 new cases; Hungary (916), Costa Rica (1,485) and the United Arab Emirates (1,007) - the highest since mid-May, all recorded new daily highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

Alright another day another protest in Melbourne:
Police are out in force around Queen Victoria Market: https://twitter.com/cassiezervos/sta...37816233705472 https://twitter.com/cassiezervos/sta...45881758625792 https://www.9news.com.au/national/co...8-22b2d9d0e75b 14 people arrested yesterday Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 13-09-2020 at 12:02 PM. |

From someone who has now lost a couple of close friends to CV (not in Australia) I find these protests really hard to understand. What exactly is it that they are hoping to achieve? Do they think the CHO is going to change his mind and relax the rules? Do they think the Premier is going to back down and change course? It seems like its nothing more than just an excuse to run amok. Freedom they say? Ask the traders and shoppers at Vic market whether they felt freedom this morning.
If you don't like how the gov has responded, lobby your MP. And if your MP isn't listening or taking your side....maybe time to consider whether your views are in line with the broader public. We are talking 2-3 months of sacrifice to save lives. We are not being welded to our house. You can still go out for shopping and exercise. Bloody hell the streets are full of kids riding their bikes. Parents are having a kick to kick with their kids on ovals. Stop watching rubbish news. I isolated from news and social media for a couple of days, and boy oh boy does it make a difference. Its not all doom and gloom. Ps. Not playing down those who are financially impacted. |

It's time VIC police started firing rubber bullets at these imbeciles. Personally, I'd hope they were real bullets, but some might see that as too aggressive.
Another option, since these imbeciles are scared of a bit of water, VIC Police should bring out the water cannons. Turn the pressure right up so a bit of skin peel results. Aim for the faces I say. |

I'm not sure what the relevance of Queen Victoria Market had today - seems to be an odd location for a protest
Maybe in the aisles of Safeway next? Maccas drive thru? Melbourne Airport Viewing Area? Monash Freeway? Chadstone Shopping Centre? Where will it be next Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 13-09-2020 at 07:13 PM. |

Please let it be the Monash Freeway. I could put my newly fitted accessory to good use.

The graphs for today are the two sets of forward modelling - the USA and Australia.
The US case model now shows the trend dropping slightly below the upper limit but that probably leaves them heading toward 8.5-9M cases by mid November. The US mortality model now shows the trend only slightly above the lower limit but that probably leaves them heading toward 240k cases by mid November. The Australian case model now shows the trend dropping below the upper limit but it needs to drop more sharply if we aren't to have 30k cases by the end of November. The Australian mortality model now shows the trend well above the upper limit but at least it is following that line now rather than climbing away from it. Hopefully, now that case numbers are diminishing that line will head back down below the upper limit otherwise we are looking at adding another 5-600 deaths. I didn't post the Vic weekly numbers yesterday but case numbers were down 41% to 366 while deaths were down by 2/3rds to 55 after rising each of the last nine weeks.

True, but discussion should be done without being rude, condescending or sarcastic.

SA might open up to NSW and ACT tomorrow. I guess it all depends on what they think of how NSW is going. IMO If NSW were such an issue then we would have heaps more than what we have. People coming and going all the time.

I hope it does come soon, should be a great bump for the economy of SA through visitors and possibly property acquisition from out-of-state.
