The camera on the Toowoomba Range (QLD)has been destroyed several times and at a cost of $55,000 dollars a time and fines last month in the short time it was operational of only $900 it should be taken down permanetly soon as its cost has far outweighed any income. keep up the good work

this was linked above
Quote:
Australian Cops block speed cameras
Local media reports confirm that officers are also parking their police vehicles, emergency lights activated, near mobile speed camera cars providing clear warning to approaching motorists. During these "welfare checks" the officers carefully investigate whether the speed camera operator might be in need of any assistance and remain to ensure his safety. Union officials insist that none of these actions harm public safety, although they may reduce state government revenue.
that's a good idea. put a police car before the camera, everyone slows down and avoids a ticket...

it seems the outrage at these revenue boxes is much higher in other countries than here.

In some outer suburbs/rural communities, its not uncommon for 80 km/h speed limit signs on dead straight backroads to mysteriously vanish and never reappear. What better way than to remove the actual road limit (well, at least bring it up to the 100 rural default) than try to thwart the enforcement of it?

So on average how much money does a camera generate per day?

I saw a speed camera on fire recently, I jumped into action and performed my civic duty by informing the authorities.

I'm eagerly awaiting reimbursement for my postage stamp.

They have 24/7 CCTV and a light @ night on the Fixed Speed Camera in Killara. Seems that the upper North Shore "dealt" with the camera one too many times :P Also, when I go to my mate's farm at Oberon, there's always shotgun pellet holes in that speed camera LOL

Thats because australians are lazy and apethetic. **** and moan all day long, but when it actually comes to action... nothing.

Has anyone tried an electro magnetic approach? Fry the box from the inside, but not before frying the cam watching it.

hmm...........

The Gatso destruction (your second link) in the UK is carried out by highly organised, but loosely coordinated groups who have been destroying Gatsos for many years. They are very succesfull and to my knowledge have avoided prosecution.

MMMMM ... anyone interested in forming a social group??? LOL
