Im not sure why you would cross off the Supra/Z but sure....and id have a CTR in a heart beat as it would show most of them the tail lights anyway.

Alos not sure what is with the SUV's...on the Audi theme;

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...ngType=topspot

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...13426197/?Cr=1

You into mashing the pedal and going straight or what something that handles?

Damn that’s really nice. And probably not too bad on the price.
However the car will see daily duty and I feel like this should remain a garage queen.

Default Re: $110,000 budget Mustang GT replacement

As Top_Gear would know, I'm in this predicament as well. I have an outstanding order for a new Mustang, but who would know if it will ever arrive, Ford and the dealer network have no interest in you unless you are buying one of their ultra profitable vehicles made in Thailand or slave labor.

I have a short list of vehicles that interest me, but all rule themselves out.

BMW M2 - I should be clear here, I have no interest in the new model, its ugly and overweight. A low mile previous gen model looks vastly better and is just as, if not better, to drive.

Porche Boxter or Cayman - again, very specific here, I would only entertain a 6-cylinder example, and my budget would reach to a moderately used example. Preferably, a Cayman S with PDK.

Toyota Supra - perfect size for me, a BMW inline 6 and ZF 8-speed gearbox. Within my budget for a new one too. But..............the sound, I hate the terrible fake sound they pump through the speakers. I would be happier with a natural, subdued rasp than that what they went with. Thats a deal breaker for me.

Jaguar F-Type - I simply can't afford the one I want, the supercharged V8. I could get a moderately used V6 for my budget, but I would always be left wanting that V8, so I would rather go without. What annoys me most is that while EVERY other Jaguar plumets like a stone in resale, the F-Type is the exception, keeping me out of the fold.

But the sticking point with all of those, except the Toyota, is that they mean shopping used. I have been bitten before inheriting a previous owners deferred maintenance, and I don't want to go there again. It's somewhat shallow I know, but I want to be the FIRST owner, for it to be MY car from the beginning.

The Mustang is my perfect car to be brutally honest. Naturally aspirated V8, and all the luscious induction note that brings. Two-door coupe styling, rear wheel drive, still somewhat affordable. So, as you can see, I am torn. The whole ordering experience for the S650 has been a complete sh.t show, Ford really dropped the ball in how they have strung customers along like this, it's shameful. And I'm not sure they deserve the sale because of that. But, if I don't take the car, someone else will in a heartbeat. And therein lies the problem, Ford have no competition, so they are treating customers like fools all the way to the bank. If I didn't want this car SO MUCH, I would have cancelled the order and gone and bought something other than a Ford.

Now, I see people mentioning the Audi RS3 and RSQ3, and for good reason, they have a wonderful sounding engine, go fast and have excellent grip. But I suspect many who have been brought up with RWD performance cars will find the Haldex 4WD system on the Audi to be very one dimensional, a point and shoot car without that lovely ability to balance on the throttle like a RWD can.

How good is the new car market, apparently we have more choice than ever before.

Could have fooled me

There's nothing in the $100K mark just like there's nothing on the $60K and below mark either.

Well, there's the Ranger I suppose

RS3 Sedan in Charcoal thanks

Although ... Audi's website states.

"The Audi RS 3 Sedan is no longer available to order. Due to high demand, production has been exhausted. Contact your preferred Audi Dealer for more information or view another Audi performance model that may suit your needs."

Would have to be a demo or near new then
I was at Audi last week and they mentioned the RS3 can still be ordered.. 130K with a 6 month lead time. S3 can be had for under 100k

BMW M340i

Faster than the old M3 and better looking than the new M3 or 4 series

The market has really spoken and everyone is buying utes or SUV's these days. Its why even Ferrari and Porsche are making SUV's now. I mean people are free to like what they want, but to me its so sad that the sedan, hot hatch and sportscar sales are declining. SUV's are good appliances for daily transportation, but they just dont make for a good driving experience.
I would never think to replace a Mustang with a SUV or ute. #personalopinion

It's my on wish list as a replacement for one of the falcons, they are a little small to cart around teenagers but will be looking at one once my x2 start driving themselves around in a couple of years, they are a pretty unassuming car but are pretty quick and well priced for a German

Does it have to be new? For that budget if be in a slightly used C63 AMG. Otherwise id grab a new Supra GTS, will fit in budget or a new/demo RS3....

The Supra does nothing for me. Maybe I don’t like the idea of teenage boys screaming at me “that’s just a BMW Z4”.

LOL, thats like when I mention to wife about a nice Rex STi when I see one.
Are you gonna wear a hoodie and ram raids at night lol.....
Yer I agree the Supra doesn't scream its ME nor do Z's but a R35 I could stomach the stigma.

yep all good points bfets agreed.
I'm saddened less ICE choice performance wise - 4 doors etcetc I have NO yearn or urge going ev I just do not care of their good points some lead on I like what I like, #personalopinion.

Polyal, I've lived through it since the 70's and I luv my Falcs warts and all and other brands.
Never thought I'd own a Hilux 4x4 but I finally/still have it actually got one years ago.
Couldn't believe the fun off road at beachs for holidays.
Practical as well but dear oh dear they suck as we know for performance handling.
I could buy a Raptor easy but no interest its still a commercial and not worth those $$$$ to me.
Never thought I'd be in a SUV but guess what, I tested out X3M, AMG, SQ3 I couldn't believe how damn good the performance ones are, sedans with height.
When I tested the Macan GTS it just went next level on those mentioned in performance handling, right size suits my needs and practical enough.
Now I get why those sports guys won't go back once having 911's.
For a heavy 2ton SUV these things blow you off how damn good it launchs and handles. AWD V6TT - 6pot fronts 21" rims - they are less about tech compared to the bells and whistles of BM/MB interior wise etc all about the driver !
Hence why I linked some Q's for they are a cousin and a good bit of kit.
IF you haven't steered one you don't know.

rare ss, I got a mate who has not cared about the teenagers how uncomfortable they maybe in the back of his choice of family cars, he says bugger them lol I give up everything else for them - I giggle each time I'm with him.
Get the BM sooner not later

For a heavy 2ton SUV these things blow you off how damn good it launchs and handles. AWD V6TT - 6pot fronts 21" rims - they are less about tech compared to the bells and whistles of BM/MB interior wise etc all about the driver !

Hence why I linked some Q's for they are a cousin and a good bit of kit.

IF you haven't steered one you don't know.

Funny I felt the GTS to be slow. Did drive well for an SUV but no way I'm spending that much coin for the lack of performance.

Spoilt by electric. 4.3 0-100 is an age these days. Needs to be sub 4 seconds.

Funny, it's as heavy as an electric and slower. Terrible showing. Weight is too high up in the corners as well.

I was quite surprised the latest Boxer and Cayman on carsales are from the year 2016.

I would have to drive both six and four Porsches to understand how they compare. For a daily driver an up to date car tech is very nice to have. For example for making calls and listening to music.

The Mustang would be a cool car to keep and have another for a daily. For example $110K - $50K trade in = $60K remaining for a daily. I saw a Mazda CX 60 straight six at the dealer for low $60's with demo Kms.

Low km RS5 with the ceramic brakes. A steal at $118k.
