Default AU severe vibration

Hello All

Wandering if anyone has some advice.

Every now and then ( Maybe a couple times a week ) I get a bad vibration that feels like its coming from the front left hand side of the car.

Could this be the wheel bearings ?

If so does anyone know of a good place to buy them, Ford want $165 each.

Thanks in advance

PS. I know this is posted in the wrong section, but it seems if you want a quick reply, the pub section is the best way to go

Hi ford.

When does this happen ......

When turning ?

Or just on a straight, relatively smooth road ?

Cheers.

I'd be taking it to a wheel alignment place............NOT a tyre dealer though.

Hey Gutza
Happens on a straight relatively smooth road - only does it for a second or two.
I should have also said I did notice a not quite a grinding or rubbing noise more like a Whirring noise when turning Right at a very slow speed - in a car park

Hi ford.

Just a couple of easy checks.

1. Make sure all lug nuts are done up close to spec, especially alloys. You may need a torque wrench. 21mm socket, I think.

2. Use wheel changing jack, get wheel off the ground. DO NOT GET UNDER THE CAR with just this.

3. Grab wheel at 12 & 6 o'clock. Rock back and forth. Any movement could be wheel bearing.

4. Grab wheel at 9 and 3, and rock. Any movement could be Tie Rod End.

5. The 'whirring' is interesting. Check PS fluid level.

Cheers.
