Default The new Toyota Aurion

As always, you can get a complete preview of Toyota's new models by looking to America. Follow the link below (They are still using the Avalon nameplate). Obviously power outputs well be different.

http://www.toyota.com/avalon/index.html

Question: What do you like about them, what dont you?

They should be a capable option to the Commodore and Falcon, build quality is out of this universe. If this car came with RWD i would sell the Falcon tomorrow.

Different car all together my friend.

The Aurion is not the US Avalon.

The Aurion is a V6 Camry with a nose job.

I agree with LSTerritoryGhia, there is no doubt that they share substantial design, look at the doors on all four cars, they are identical. Our previous Avalon (a VERY old design from the first generation in US, 1995-1999) was also based on the camry with a nose and tail job with a few more mm wheelbase.

The new one is no different. If it cost Ford $500million to put new sheetmetal on front and rear and upgrade the engine for the BA there is no way Toyota Aus could justify spending even more than that to re-engineer a completely unique nose and tail for a car which has historically been a sales flop.

And I am sure that you are all aware that Australia's Camry has always half a generation behind the Americans > the two are identical but i think we get higher engine outputs

That's a bit harsh isn't it?

What's so wrong about Toyota's product?

Why do Ford and GM deserve to sell more?

I take it your taking the **** otherwise it's a pretty silly comment with Corolla kicking Falcon down to the number three spot in recent sales.

No that will be the TRD model due out at a leter date.

I still cannot understand how putting 200kW through the front wheels will work without being dangerous.

I know Toyota quality is supposed to be better and everything but one thing Toyota has not delivered yet is a car that people can't wait to drive. Remember the hype leading up to the BA or the VE, that was real interest by potential owners or kids in the school yard. There is certainly a lot of hype going on about the Aurion but is it manufactured hype generated by bombardment advertising or is it coming from the people. (is there a toyota forum where people talk about this stuff?)

If people actually can't wait to drive the new Aurion then kudos to toyota for turning out an interesting car because until now nearly everybody who buys a toyota does so because of their supposed reliability and not because they are an interesting or aspirational car. (4x4s are excluded from this statement)

On a totally different note, 200kw seems a lot to be putting through the front wheels, just out of interest has there ever been a more powerful front wheel drive car (in factory form) because I can not think of one off the top of my head.

From a sales point of view, they probably dont need to. People will buy whatever they end up putting out. The general motoring crowd who see a car as being something to get them from A to B couldnt care less about the car. They just want it to have bulletproof engineering and low maintenance. Thats an image that Toyota has succeeded in producing.

Well... thats my opinion anyway.

Thats the reason I drive a Ford, and my Mother drives a Toyota.

Just wait till the supercharged TRD version of the Aurion comes out early 2007, i dont think 250kw will be unreasonable there > all from a 3.5 V6, makes HSV and FPV look like they are still using engines from the dark ages (hang on, they are??)

The Aurion is NOT a nose job of a Camry, despite what blackahcdx is saying. Just ignore him.

yes, LOL

anyways, the thing that has always put me off toyotas (camry's etc) is they make the body panels so large (especially towards the rear) it makes the wheel arches look small and the wheels even smaller...it looks so awkward, can't the designers see this???

Would u like to tell me why it isn't just a nose job?

Take 1 camry, give it rhinoplasty, add a V6 and u have an Aurion.

Simple!!!
