Default Good Ford dealer in Melbourne?

Hi all,

Wondering if you could help me out.... I have just moved to Melbourne and need to find myself a new local Ford dealer. My car is almost due for a service.

Interested to hear your thoughts!

Paul

From my experience Etheridge Ford in Ringwood is good.
Sterling Ford in Bundoora is also good.
Bayford (the Epping department) was good the last time I used them a couple of months ago.

+1 to Sterling Ford.

Been there twice for warranty work on the BFII Egas sedan (06 build) while it was under warranty. My car is now has now covered 103xxxkm.

* Diff whine at 65000km (and yes I tried changing the diff oil, but to no avail). Sterling rebuilt the diff, and haven’t had issue since.
* LPG cut-off valve functioning incorrectly. Again Sterling fixed it without any hassles.

I also had to use sterling in bundoora for a warranty claim on my G6ET, and not being my usual dealer, they were prompt to fix the issue too.

I oftern use yarran ranges ford, as my uncle works there. He does all the work on my car, and i get great service, but cant comment from a "non family" customer.

Binks Ford in Deer Park? I have heard some time ago they were ok, unsure how they are atm, as it seems that service managers etc. at dealers tend to change frequently.

I will second that!!!!

If it is servicing you are after ask for Peter (sorry I forget his surname) in their Servicing Department. He looks after both of our cars, is very honest and provides excellent service.

Cheers,

Chris

I'm in West Footscray and use Binks in West Footscray. They've been good. Close to buses and I think they will run you to Footscray station.

I've bought my last two Fords from Etheridge and if they were closer, they would get the services too.

But if you're out West, something in the City or Binks will sort you.

Avoid, I've had over 50 cars covering most makes and these turkeys are the worst. Both from a purchase and service aspect.
I'm a pretty understanding guy when it comes to things going wrong and believe in giving the opportunity to make things right but they are the only car dealership I feel strong enough about to give a bad wrap.

Bayford Epping have looked after me for the last 3 new Fords (Ranger and 2 XRs)

Westpoint really must be bad when the turkey's at Bayford Epping are good....mind you Coburg is worse.

Sterling Ford is still the best in the Northern burbs, pitty they are a small dealer as I would love them to have more stock.

As Ford dealers go (and compared to other makes, Ford dealers are part of the problem for the brand) Epping have been OK. One handbrake adjustment that was worse than when it went in was the only thing ever needing rectification.

Probably have had 25 services done there. Should also add that I am not that fussy with servicing and do not "love" any cars. As long as the service is done on time, they do what they have been asked and no more without authorisation and the car is not covered in crap and scratched, I'm happy.

Westpoint should be out of business IMO.

Sorry Daniel I disagree. My son had numerous visits to Sterling re warranty issues with his BF2 XT which they sold to him and Bayford Epping corrected the issues with one visit. It was 2 years ago so they may have changed. The GT and Territory have been serviced by Bayford Epping for the past 3 years with no issues.

Ive been dealing with both Bayford and Sterling for years. Coburg is completely useless. With Epping they had a good run for 3 months then the bloke that was there left (this was a couple of years ago) and then they went back to their ordinary ways. Their fine to use but I found sterling much better to deal with and they got the job done. At the end of the day Epping is more convenient to me but if I need people I can trust (well to an extent) Sterling was better. Funny enough when I had trouble with my gas system on my old BA (aftermarket) I needed it to go to a Ford dealer and Sterling was the only one they said to send it to because they would do the job.

Since starting this thread 2 years ago I have been frequenting Essendon Ford. Both for my XR50T and my fiance's Fiesta Metal.

Really rate both their sales and service divisions. If your looking to buy a new one - talk to Matt - top bloke....

Ive had a couple of negative reviews from contacts regarding Westpoint too unfortunately.

I know you're out west. But for what it's worth, I purchased from, and get mine looked after by Knox Ford in Ferntree Gully. The service manager there is good. He gets busy and can sometimes take a while to return your call. But, when he does, he listens to you and ensures that you are looked after.

Cant really fault them at this stage.

Etheridge and City Ford are also two that I have heard nothing but positive things about.

Avoid westpoint, our previous car last year was serviced there twice and both times they damaged it, first time they fixed it second time we couldn't prove they scratched it (even though we know it was them)

I'm trying deer park ford next month, will see how they go

Stay clear of them,i had a 15,000 km service and a few minor warranty items that need attention.I delivered the car at 8am and came to pick it up at 5pm and it still was not ready.I was told the usual bull we had no time to finish all your warranty items and others we couldnt fault.Charged me over $300 for an oil change and they didnt even use the recommended oil for fg xr8,s at 15,000kms which is the castrol edge 0/40 they use the one size fits all gtx3 15/30 and to top it off i was charged for a wheel rotation and i had a look at the wheels close up and as many would know certain wheels have scratches that only the owner would know about and the wheels were in the same position and they can blatantly look you in the eye and say we rotated your tyres.
