political correctness in our schools

Political correctness is running rampant in our schools these days with the words to various nursery rhymes being changed. For instance, bah bah black sheep is now bah bah wooly sheep.

Kids are not allowed to be called boy or girl anymore such as good boy, it must now be good child. This is how all schools are now supposed to behave.

Somebody on another forum posted this version of waltzing matilda that will have to be adopted to conform to the rules

"Once a jolly swagperson temporarily halted by a water source
Under the shade of a Coca-Cola tree
And he or she sang as he or she watched and he or she waited till his or her kettle boiled using renewable solar power
"Will you consent to parambulate around the dance floor, Matilda, with me? Please?"

Down come an introduced livestock species to drink at the water source
Up jumped the swagperson and grabbed him or her or it with glee
And he or she sang as he or she shoved that introduced livestock species in his or her recepticle
"Will you consent to parambulate around the dance floor, Matilda, with me? Please?"

Up rode the illegally residing on crown land person mounted on his or her introduced livestock species of the equine variety

"Where's that introduced livestock species you've got in your recepticle?",

Up jumped the swagperson and jumped into the water source

Political correctness is just going too far and I think they are doing more damage than good with all these changes.

That is somewhat old and misquoted...I will not go into the whys and wherefores ...but solar power does not get a mention in the pc version of that.

As for the nursery rhymes ...long live baa baa BLACK sheep and catch a nigger by his toe if he squeals let him go.....and black golliwogs.

At my son's school, the girls don't wear dresses, but rather a feminine version of the summer shorts the boys wear, with the same polo tops as the boys. When the principal was questioned whether dresses would be introduced for the girls, it was abruptly shut down saying they don't want to differentiate between the sexes by clothing them differently. Supposedly, girls won't interact with the boys, play on the playground etc if they are wearing dresses.......wtf?

I grew up wearing dresses at school and I don't think we were disadvantaged.

Bah! There is like 9 year olds out there with 'boyfriends' or 'girlfriends' because they hold hands at lunchtime, growing up too fast. At that age I probably thought the girls were a pain in the ***.

the news article was reversed the next day or so

and they had the leader of the gay and lesbian activist group or somthing on there

saying he has no idea what they are on about and that seaworld changed the "fairy name" of their own accord htinking the poofs may get offended(after 10000 years of no complaints mind you)

and he said im sitting here on my poof eating my fairy bread ..while thinking of the fairys at the bottom of the garden..

and then some other lady was on saying that she has black shoes.. black skirts.. why cant they call a naturally coloured sheep its colour.. BLACK..

Political corectness, oh, F it all. I'm going to Borroloola (King Ash bay) later this week for a weeks fishing with 3 of the most politicaly in correct blokes I have ever met. Dont worry everyone we will solve the problems of this world and let you al know the answers when we get back. That is, if the crocs dont get us. A friends daughter goes to primary school here in Adelaide and they are not allowed to use the word 'rubber'.

They must call it an 'eraser' otherwise they get detention. I kid you not!!!

How bloody stupid is that. All because a condom is known as a rubber.

It's about time all this ridiculous political correctness stuff get's the and we can stop being so concerned with such trivial stuff.

I don't believe that there is any such thing political correctness.

when I was a kid you could buy sugar cigarette type things called "fags".. not any more, they are called "fads". It seems that making out you are smoking is okay, just the name of the product was not pc.

All these "pc" thugs need to be rounded up, forced to go hunting some small fury creature, taken to a bar to engage in verbal slanging matches after a game of football(any code) then made to sit through hours of cricket, beer drinking and strip shows all whilst enjoying it.

They don't enjoy it? they are not alowed back into society.

Yes and I'm married to a Primary school teacher.

Fair enough. But I do know of several people who say their daycare/preschool has changed to the PC versions of nursery rhymes etc. So there must be some truth to it or some preschools etc have had a serious knee jerk reaction.
