Default Rusty boot shock ball joint mounts

Firstly I'd like to say you have a very informative site here. Looks like I will be able to glean heaps of good info form here.
I just bought a AUIII Forte and the ball joint mounts for the boot shocks are rusted pretty badly. The car is less than 5 years old and in the warranty book I got with the car it states that there is a 5 year corrosion perforation warranty. Does this warranty apply to me seeing as I am not the original owner? The car is in excellent condition otherwise.
