Exclamation 84 Laser Wont Crank Over /turn Over

Hi all i have a 1984 1.5l laser and it wont start at all ?

what i mean by not starting is when i turn the key all lights come on the dash but when i turn it past acc nothing happens at all its like it has a dead battrie (altho battrie it is brandnew)

car was running fine last time it ran altho aircon fans and acc wouldnt work and car was making a bad grinding noise got it around the corner from my house and it backfired badly so it got turned off and hasnt been started since

so today i got out there and had a look at it ....

checked to see if i can crank car over manualy (make sure motor
is not sezied) was fine

cleaned battrie termanals

replaced fuses inside car

tryed starting car with headlights on to see if they dimm when crankng they dont dim at all when trying to crank car over (makes me think no power is going to startermotor or else the power surge would dimm the lights)

cleaned contacts under bonnet

what else could be causing this problem im guessing bad starter motor or solanoids (how ever you spell em lol)

anything else i should check before classing this as a wreck ?

i would like to jump the startermotor but dam all the parts in the way makes it hard is there a eazy way to reach it ?

anyway thanks in advance :

les
