Hello just wondering whats involved in detail for a zetec to be put into a mk1 corty. Has anyone done it?
How Much roughly did it cost? I Know i have to get a type 9 gearbox, im gonna do a blacktop 2.0 on r1 bike carbs, but i have no idea about the water railing system and why i have to do that etc. And clutch bits how do i go what do i get and where from? I do have a pinto clutch sitting around, will i need that? What happens with the tailshaft and what diff should i get? Wouldnt mind an lsd. Engine mounts custom job? I dont have a massive work shop or the most knowledge on cars but i want to learn and im not worried about how long it takes me to do it. I do have access to an engine crane and most obvious things i need. Cheers guys! |

get across to one of the more dedicated small ford forums for more detail.
try http://rsmotorsport.com.au/ There are plenty of conversion Kits available out of the UK, that can supply everything you need or at least identify what you need yourself. the water rail on the FWD cars using this engine will foul the bulkhead, you can cut the bulkhead and box it out, make up your own front facing rail or purchase one, there are some good ones coming out of Australian businesses too. I believe a zetec flywheel machined for pinto clutch is popular, and bolting the 4 and 5 speed gearboxes on is easy as they are the same bolt pattern. Engine mounts are available as standard and chassis mount options. depending on where you mount the engine a standard 1 piece driveshaft may suit or having one shortened/lengthened is pretty straight forward. diffs are limited in choice unless you go expensive quaife or convert to another type/manufacturer. Cheers JP |
