um, my stacker is rooted at the moment as well. but i still have radio. my car has extended warranty, so when i could be arsed, ill go back to Ford, and get it swapped/repaired. cheap option for me.
if you dont have extended warranty. you are best off replacing it with an aftermarket unit. and taking your cd's out of the stacker. then hitting it with a hammer.

Well I just use the big ipod and radio signal transmitting adapter to the FM. 7000 songs and never a need to change CD'S or cart them around.

Ford 6-stackers blow.
Throw it out at the first opportunity possible. Or take it to ASL Logistics and get it fixed ... up to you.

When i pulled my 6stacker apart to look at changing the lcd and button lighting in it to blue lighting ( i didn't change it, too much trouble , but anyway...), i stuffed it when i put it back together again first time around , and i had the same sorta problems as mentioned above.
After removing the headunit again i found i handn't pushed the facia of the radio hard up against the body of the headunit hard enough , there is a small contact between the body and the facia of the headunit. The facia is supported hard up against the body of the headunit body by a screw on both sides behind the facia/ just behind the facia on either side of the front of the body. If these screws have come loose over time / it is possible as they were not realy tight originaly on mine anyway / it may be possible that the contact between the facia of the headunit and the body of the headunit is not contacting properly , if these screw have come loose. Maybe try take the headunit out , loosen the facia screws a tadd on either side, then push the facia up hard against the body of the headunit while re-tightening the screws. Mine seemed to work again after doing this. gl.
