2010 Taurus SHO

I saw one of these on the road today not too far from Ford , are these new 2010 Taurus SHO coming to oz, or do you think it may be just a grey import. ( was right had drive )

One of the better looking US sedans in a long time.
Though in some angles can look like a camry.

Still the SHO is decent car...

They can look like a Camry sometimes I agree. But that rear end - absolutely hidious. Every other angle looks great. So there are RHD versions getting around? Doesn't look good for the RWD/V8 Falcon...

Hmm, maybe the next Falcon will be identical to the US Taurus in every way shape and form but on the Falcon RWD platform with the Ecoboost I4, V6 and the Coyote V8? would drop costs considerably with component sharing.

Its funny the gradual acceptance of the Taurus on this forum a big change from a year ago. I wonder if Ford goes on here and sees the changing attitudes?

id say a year ago most peoples first mental image of a taurus was the ugly cockroach shaped thing from the nineties... now with more and more people seeing how good the new ones can go and look, and them becoming more prevalent on different forums perception is changing.

Yeah ive never been a fan of the Taurus, but this version really hits the spot its stunning id love to own one if it ever came here.

Would you be willing to choose one over a RWD Falcon? There's no way Ford would sell both here. Also, there's about as much chance of a Coyote in a Taurus as I've got to become the next PM.

Exactly. It looks pretty full in there with the TTV6. I'm not sure of the dimensions of the Coyote but I doubt they'd get it in sideways (or at all).

+1. I like the falcon, because it represents Australia. There is nothing the Taurus has which is appealing. It's American by name and will be American by nature.

We can wish for this, or wish for that, and hope for this and hope for that.

In the end, Falcon (as we know it) will still be made locally, designed by the locals, for a global market (for Lincoln).

I was thinking along the same line that there was an acceptance of the Taurus on this forum.
If this attitude continues the FWD platform will be their ideal vehicle of choice to replace the Falcon.

As good a try as taurus is I think it's a no show in comparison with Falcon for several reasons:
1) the external dimensions are closer to BF Fairlane
2) internal room is similar to Falcon but it has a higher hip point
3) both of the above mean the base FWD is 150 kg heavier than Falcon.

Ford has already mentioned that a future Taurus will be wider, I think Taurus will evolve into a true
large car replacement for the Crown Victoria and that the Fusion/Mondeo will edge up to Falcon size......

The best thing FoA can do is put forward the case for Falcon to cover as much product envelope
as possible, including Ecoboost I-4, maybe an ecoboost I-4 hybrid, V6 diesel, I-6 in NA, LPG and
Turbo variations as well as V8 option. Add to that Sedan, Ute, Territory and possibly a sportwagon/hatchback...bombard head office with the potential (Lincolns).

I hope so. Because adoption of the Taurus would lead to the loss of the I6 (which will go sooner or later anyway), loss of a V8 in the falcon lineup (i'm assuming they'd keep the falcon name) and probably the loss of the Ute.

Car looks good, but it FWD and heavier than a Falcon. You would expect not as good driving dynamics at the limit, and heavier fuel consumption than a Falcon. I will stick with the latter thanks.

I'd get a chinese made car or a HOLDEN with RWD before I buy a stinkin' FWD...

If the old 4.6 would fit in a FWD, theres no reason why a Coyote wont...
