I had a mate with one that was only a few years old. He could not give it away back then. I think he sold it for around 20k after trying for 6 months to sell it.
I thought it looked ugly.

Forget the car itself, it is simply a tarted up VL.
However it is a piece of Automotive history. The HDT thing was huge, and this caused it to fall apart. So it's worth money to a collector for that. Also the red car was used at the Melbourne Motorshow. They look better when not red. ![]() ![]()

There are far more desirable Brocks out there than this thing, the owner has been pulling himself for years. For similar money you could put away Brock/Richards M3 (in either livery) or a couple of Blue Meanies, a Black VC man, the Black VK Director and Brocks Ultimate Car with enough left over to build a shed to house them.
The reason this car is going to auction is because he can't sell it for what he wants, simple. |

Just out of interest how much do those blue VK Brock Commodores sell for, I remember seeing one that had been wrapped around power pole at the Ballarat Swap back in the early 90s. Pretty sure it had about $20k on it.

Burnz, I think more development would have yielded more ridicule.

They are actually rarer than a Phase III Falcon... and are constantly confused with the VK Group A blue meanie... They are the highest priced Commodore that I can think of... and there is a couple out there at the moment at the $120k + mark... Personally I think $300,000 is a high point to ask for... but having said that, Brocky Commodores are starting to increase in demand... and the true/original cars with stories/books/history are always going to pull the biggest numbers... Never know - this might just be what the collectable car market needs to start heading back north.... Time will tell.... PS: I think that this particular car was belted so hard with the ugly stick - that the stick broke...

Further, the energy polarizer led to the town on Nimbin being formed, and was the reason for government warnings that drugs can cause you to do stupid things. As the polarizer was phased out however, the faithful reincarnated it as the ill famed "Magic Happens" sticker. After much hysteria and shame, this was later reincarnated to frangipani stickers. To this day, the acid dropping Peter Brock polarizer lives on positioned proudly on idiotic motorists' rear windows; usually adorned to people movers, 4wd's and small crapboxes. Indeed, the polarizer just won't die. ![]()

VK Group A SS (500 of them made by HDT)
![]() VK Group A SS Group 3 (50 made by HDT) ![]() VL Walkinshaw was made by HSV and was called a SS Group A (as well as the 'Walkinshaw') *NOTE* Both VK's are the same colour - lighting and photo quality make them look a little different...

I'll probably get flamed for saying it, but those cars are quite attractive.

I think the author of that story needs his facts straightened out.
This particular Brock Director, was the only one fitted with the combination of Opel IRS and Electronic four speed auto. It was the ONLY one fitted with a blueprinted 5.6 Litre Brock enhanced V8. This has been independently verified by the current owner and I believe the president of the Victorian HDT owners club, Mr Blair Warren. Im not saying that this means it's worth 300k....... but to someone else, who knows. Its definately what one would consider the pinnacle of HDT Brock enhanced cars in terms of it's specification. |
