had a phone call from tegan at newman international today to just confirm my name, address , postcode etc, she appologised for the printing error and said they will still be around 6-8 weeks for delivery of the new ones, and she wasnt sure how they'd be delivered yet.

i also scored myself an old display stand from a shell outlet and found the 6 plates to collect sticker up top is covering a 7 plates to collect sign, hmmm, wonder if there was going to be a seventh plate? maybe an xy???

i have done some more investigating and found there was going to be a seventh plate.
on the display stand the plates were sold from the stickers which say "6" to collect are actually covering up a number 7
down on the side of the stand there are pics of the six cars and below them is a blue sticker which covers up the other plate.

some pics

see 6 plates to collect sticker, 7 showing underneath

6 plates sticker covering the 7 plates to collect

sticker removed

note blue sticker under the xc

blue sticker removed from bottom plate

so what ever happened to the 2008 xr8 plate???

I guess someone decided at the last minute that the XR8 wasn't in the same legendary status as the others and pulled it. :

But I wonder if any were ever printed... now THAT would be worth something.

Maybe the XR8 is being held back for a next series.
Cant say the XR8 really fits with the 6 chosen cars anyway.
seems like a good move to not include it.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the Cobra was also noted as a GT on the plate. Gave me a laugh or two.
Yes just my view but I don't see any thing good about these cheaply incorrect plates there are so many things that are wrong on them and they are stupid mistakes that should have been corrected before production, they are cheaply made in China with no attempt at quality control ,just goes to show that you can make a lot of money making crapy items because people will still buy them .

As long as I could justify the expense, I still chose to snap them up. Regardless of the obvious flaws in their details

Hi All
I recieved a phone call from the people doing these number plates, just to confirm my postal details and to say the replacement '69 plate will be about 10 weeks away.
No mention of sending the wrong plates back or confirmation of purchase.
Anybody else?

I got the same phone call today.

I've still got the original email reply from her stating 8 weeks, which was dated 3/9/09 so it must be taking them a lot longer than they anticipated! Not that it bothers me, I'd forgotten all about it until she called this morning.

ok, emailed tegan today and got the following response

Hi Craig,

Apologies for the delay.

We are currently getting the plates printed and they will be sent out to
you shortly. They are being sent from the factory in China so
unfortunately I still cannot give you an exact date.

The XR8 plate was never made unfortunately.

Warm Regards,
Tegan

I was also told that they were to be picked up from the servos that we bought the original plates from, but would still be notified about this.

Talk about fail. Will look into this tomorrow, as I have the time to sort this out then...

Got mine today. Trouble is i only got 1 when i specifically asked for 2. Ahwell

I guess if you provided your mailing address then you will recieve it on your doorstep like i did.

[IMG][/IMG]

Top one is the fix, bottom is the original stuff up. I reckon it should have been a different colour as the XA plate is also red.

Got mine today! Thankyou Tegan! What I do find funny is that they didn't come from the Shell distributors Australian warehouse in a bulk mailout, but direct from Hong Kong....not even bothering to pretend they were "Made in Australia" :
