Even though i am Ford through and through, i still had a healthy respect for Peter Brock and his talents behind the wheel, as well as his devotion to charities after his retirement.
Let's see who the hero's are who are quick to speak ill of him!
Condolences to family.

Bloody sad.

Supose if it wasn't for his HDT cars there would be no HSV and most likely no FPV.

Unfortunately the prices of HDT cars and anything Brock has just gone up!

Man was a legend. Hooroo Brocky!

Holy crap. I don't believe it! I can't say I was ever a Brock fan but this is still devastating news. He was an absolute legend on the racetrack, with 10 Bathurst wins (including the 24 hour). Both he and Steve Irwin both died doing what they loved. Brock couldn't get away from motorsport, even after he said Bathurst 2004 would be his last race. This man's life revolved around the racetrack. It is certainly a sad week for Australian celebrities. Condolences to his family and friends, and obviously all the people who look up to him. Rest in Peace Brocky, you will certainly be missed

And opto, condolences to you and your family as well.

Just saw news update and although it was from a distance the shots from the helicopter made the car to not look very badly damaged.

The fact this thread has reached 7 pages in less than an hour shows how much respect is there for Brocky. Even if he spent most of his life with Holden, we all still see him as a legend. He was the king of the mountain.

Default update

just saw footage on Sky News - showed car close up - it looks as though the tree hit smack bang in the drivers side, car was bent a bit in that area.. tarp covering the area. rest of car relatively undamaged. Freak accident. I've seen him get out of cars far worse than that.. but it was old, and as i said looks like the tree hit right in the worst spot. back is a bit out of whack too.

Yeah from what I saw I thought it must have hit in the worst possible place, because I also thought the car didn't look too damaged in the scheme of things.

RIP Peter Brock, be very interesting to see what happens now though, as sad as it may sound, Im betting Steve Irwin will fade into the background and now it'll be all about Peter Brock and how much of a legend he was.
