Default Anyone ever changed boot struts in a sedan?

Hi All,

Just after some advice!!

I'm halfway through changing the boot struts in my EF sedan - I've removed the old ones, and fitted the new ones at the point near the back seat, but I seem to be having alot of trouble fitting the other point to the section on the boot arms.

Basically from what I can see, you just have to use brute strength to push the strut in a bit, and then get it on to the mounting point.

I'm just wondering though, if there is any easier way than this as I tried for 20 minutes and still couldn't do it!

Thanks,

Justin.

I was recommended a guy who regasses struts by my mechanic. Haven't gotten round to doing it yet, but my boot struts are cactus, and seriously need regassing. I can give you his number if ya like.

Thanks for that, I should be ok though - I've got the new struts and got them half installed, I just don't want to do it how I think it has to be done (ie with brute strength like a real man!!)

he bought a whole car i beleive? el futura?

struts are easy to put in, just get something to hold the boot upright while changing them, remove the back seat side boulsters for easier access, get a nice little flatty to pull the clips back

Yep, Niko is right! I've got an EL that I'm wrecking, and the struts on it were good, so I thought why not give it a try!

There's a couple of people on ebay who sell them for about $20 per pair plus postage (new).

I'll try and be more of a man on the weekend and get the buggers in!
