Yeh it sucks but down here on the gold coast we have an almost full dam and still have to go on level 4 restrictions.

Level 4 restrictions will be in force for the Ballarat region as of Wednesday the 1st November also. We're already using bath water, and water from the washing machine rinse cycle for our plants.
Time maybe for a saying from Meet The Fockers..."if it's yellow, let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down!"

when i was on Kangaroo island they tried to impose water restrictions ad taxes etc for the murray on us. i was like gee you missed an important part about the name of our location (ISLAND). not to mention the fact we were on rain water and had 2 MASSIVE dams for watering lawns etc.

I live in a country town north of Newcastle and don't think we have eva had water restrictions while i'v lived here. from march to August it rains, then the rest it bloody hot and then it still rains every now and then. After a storm it will ussually rains for a week, so we will never be restricted.

I didnt think we had "levels" like the other states do? Rather, we call them "permanent water conservation methods".

Sounds like semantics, i know... but I beg to differ.

The "levels" of restriction imply that they will one day be lifted. Not the case in my opinion, even if the resevoirs fill up - time has shown that we need to conserve the stuff regardless of how much is falling in any given 12 month period.

Whereas the SA approach shows that we need not get our hopes up about unrestricted water useage.

As for people complaining about the cleanliness of their car... lol, hope you guys are kidding. I couldnt think of anything less important.

well i think melbourne just hit stage 2. But at the rate we are going, and the current water levels, i'm predicting stage 3 is just around the corner :(

Geelong hit Stage 3 today, but i was told that if it wasnt so close to the election we'd be on Stage 4

Its getting pretty serious. If anything good can come out of it, the things we implement now will help our dams and resevoirs recover easier when we do get some rain.

Yep...An dfor people with Pools they may need to buy a new washing machine!

Residential Pool owners

Pool owners who plan to continue using town water to top up or fill pools from June 30, 2007, must have installed three of the following four measures by that date:

* A four star-rated washing machine
* Dual flush toilets throughout the home
* A pool cover; or
* Ensure all indoor water appliances (showers and tap heads) are water-efficient.

NOTE: Pool owners can, by June 30 2007, install a free-standing rainwater tank or a roof gutter diverter and only use rainwater to top up their pools. These pool owners will not need to adopt any of the four water saving measures providing they do not top up with town water after June 30.

Hahaha, in Adelaide theyve been using recycled water for AGES. We didnt get no stinking referrendum like the queenslanders did either.

Probably a good thing to. Seems queenslanders would rather let the place dry up than use perfectly safe recycled water.
