Talking Any thermofan experts up for a mod day?

G'day all, a friend is having some overheating woes with his EA and a quick look under the bonnet revealed that the clutch fan has somehow disconnected itself and it's just sitting loose in the fan shroud!

I've suggested he look at thermofans and under the circumstances I might have to sell him the ones I was going to put on my car. It just means we'd need to source the remaining parts ASAP and if possible, have a mod day at my place on Monday or Tuesday.

Is anyone able to help with the installation that day, as I wouldn't have a clue myself. At least removing the clutch fan won't be so hard.

It would be much easier to get a good clutch fan from a wrecker. How do you mean it has disconected itself ?

I think I have a spare EA clutch fan lying around somewhere, Ash replaced it years ago with an ED one as it was a bit noisy. I can have a look for it if you like, I wouldn't want anything for it.

That could work, well the old one was pretty badly damaged somehow and seemed to have unscrewed itself completely from the thread. If you've got a spare to try out that would be an idea.

I remember I gave a good one away and still felt I was doing a disservice to the guy taking it.

weird since the thread is left hand meaning that when the engine is running it is trying to tighten. sounds like the thread itself may be stuffed. might want to check if it will screw on jack. give it a couple of turns then start the engine and watch it eiter spin itself tight or fly off and smack you in the eye

Cheers Karl I'll do that. I just assumed the thread was screwed for the reason you mentioned, but since I'm yet to find a really good clutch fan for him it's worth giving this one a last try.
