Why in the blue hell would you want to put an EA auto in an EB?

3 speed auto - it wont bolt in - mount points are all wrong.
4 speed auto - will be fine

If you can spell put a little more what your intended plan is, I can give more information :

No problem at all if it is series ea 11 -or eb 1- up as they are identical. go no earlier as they are 3 speed borg boxes , only because ford australian workers where stiking over wage claims in late 80,s thats why early ea autos where f----d compared then to vn 4 speed auto. so & so :gren:

your box may be fine. it sounds like there is something else causing a problem. 3rd gear only is a limp mode.

don't be too quick to replace your box you may not need to

You could be onto something there because the battery light has been coming on in the mornings and a warning buzzer. I just give it a quick rev and its all good. I will look in to it further. Thanks

I was going to say check your fuse, but then I realised "duh! He said it's OK sometimes!" so it won't be the fuse (as was the case with mine when it went into limp home mode) a couple of weeks ago)...

Must be somewhere in the wiring/earthing as others have said. Good luck finding it, & let us know how u go.
