Default Can't lock car - wont recognise keypad

As the topic suggests i can't lock my car. Which is obviously somewhat of an urgent problem.

For some reason tonight the car has stopped recognising any button presses from the keypad although the keypad itself seems to be working (i.e the red light flashes on presses). I did vacuum the car today and clean the interior but can that have affected things ????

Anyone had this happen before ? Despite appearing to be functional is the keypad/remote busted or is there something on the car itself that has gone amiss suddenly ? The boot release button and also the red alert button thingy aren't being noticed by the car either.

Any tips would be appreciated as i'm now grounded until i can get this working again (if i can do it myself). Before anyone asks - i can't lock it manually with the key as my doorlock is screwed from a break-in before.

It's an AU3 XR8.

Thanks.

Fixed it ! Found another topic here about re-training the keypad (press demister 3 times etc.) ... did it and it works fine now.

Why would it need re-training though when it's been working fine until now ?!?!?!?

Sorry for jumping the gun. Killed my Saturday night plans now though.

Did you hit the demister button a few times when you were cleaning ?- that is the only thing i can think off, you must have knocked it in keypad training mode

it may have been a case of the keypad didnt recognise the car after it was cleaned!! joking.....although it does depend on how often you clean your car...mine hasnt been cleaned in a couple of months now. but then im waiting to put my new bar on.....it'll be getting a thorough cleaning in a couple of weeks for the sunny coast cruise glad you were able to sort it out though, repeating all the destructions on relearning the key pad is a pain in the butt!!

You may we be right on that haha ! Interior hasn't been cleaned for a while i must admit. Wonder what's gonna happen when i wash the outside of the car - wheels will probably fall off or something.

The relative ease of re-training the keypad has made me go and buy a spare one as a backup though so something good came out of it. The rubber bit on the button is pretty worn on torn on the one i have.
