I am thinking about going on a road trip to Melbourne on the long weekend coming up. : : Where are the best clubs? : I want to stay at a hotel walking distance to lots of clubs/strip clubs/resturants.
Where would be the best place to stay?

Melbourne CBD - Go to Wotif.com and work from there.
Clubs n bars are everywhere, Strip clubs are on King Street (west side of the CBD) and restaurants are along the Yarra River in 'Southbank' are south of the CDB. All of this is easy walking/staggering distance. |

It depends on what sort of clubs and what sort of crowd, whether you have girls with you or not and how late you want to go out.
Seven on thursday nights and CQ on Saturday nights are probably two of the better clubs and they attract heaps hot girls but are really hard to get into unless your a really good looking bloke or you come with hot girls. One love at the Prince of Wales in St Kilda and Famous at the Queensbridge Hotel are also awesome but most people will be on the fruity disco bikkies. There's crap loads of other nightclubs about some good, some bad, doesn't really matter where you stay in the CBD everything is more or less walking distance because its pretty flat, plus theres heaps of trams. Most of the real cheap hotels, backpackers and the like is on king street but like the bloke above said look on wotif.com and work from there. Let us know what kind of place you like to go and we'll see if we can give you a more detailed reccomendation.

Um, what sort of music are you into?
The younger people I know usually hit - Gay/metro music.. Billboards (been phased out), famous and places like that. More alternative, there's places like Click Click, Bang (emo central), switch, and there's one that plays all old school music (like Zep, Hendrix, Sabbath etc) all night, can't remember the name though.. Not sure what's open on a Sunday night though, your 24 hours too late there :P

Next is Click Click but on a thursday night, and more alternative bands. Click click is more dance oriented.
Next has seen a few good nights, but most thursday's it's not that great IMO. Their last birthday bash was awesome though. There's also Krank but that's Friday nights. I don't know any Sunday night venues really, but if you're down here for any other nights, there you go. Not much of a 'clubber' though, i prefer Johnston St, lol.

There is only one good place on a Sunday night and thats Star Bar on Clarendon St.
Heaps of hot girls and everyone is under 25. You missed out saw John Course there a couple of weeks ago. I think they have a whole line up of big DJ's booked though.
