Hi Folks,

For my thoughts buy the colour you want with stripes you can always remove later... Much easier than adding stripes later...

Many years ago I worked in a Landrover Dealer, we used to remove body stickers off Defenders using hot water... Boiled Kettle, let cool for a couple of minutes, poored a bit on corner of sticker so we could get a start and then peeldd off running the hot water over the part of the sticker that was "peeling". We used to get them off without leaving any residue to polish...

If I was in the market for a car now I'd get white with blue stripes. Then I would have a big cobra and a little baby cobra. I will be looking in about a year so hopefully the new model will have a XR4 version by then

Question

Hey Guys

Going to buy a XR4 in a few weeks just waiting for a settlement.

Tell me have you guys or gals had any problems or issues with this car >

If so what ?

Can i get a 2009 model ? ----if not when do they get released?

What was the best price you guys got for a brand newie?

Can you get any upgrade apart from paint and stripes because my girlfriend told me they can give you tinted windows mats and a further extension on warranty

Any answers would be great just want to know before the sales people try and screw me over

Any tips when I go to buy one?
Regards
Ebbie :

Hi Eb Girl,

Where are you - what state?

I'm not a fan of their (dealer not Ford) tint- you can get it darker and cheaper elsewhere. You can always ask for extras like mats sa part of the deal, but the only option is stripes. You can see my tint here - and I know mine aren't the darkest ones on here...

The cheapest price...?????? well again depends on what state you are in, and it seriously pays to shop between dealers - one might have one there on the floor they want to shift so may play more with $$ versus the dealer who has to get one in.

Let us know what state you are in.

Cheers,

GBG

I paid the extra for the dealer to fit the tint simply to protect my warranty, and its another thing I don't have to run around organising.
I could just imagine trying to make a claim for a rattle in the door or something if I had the tint fitted after.... "Sorry, you've had these door trims off"...

As for problems, I've had my XR4 for 3500km now and nothing to report

Ditch the stripes IMO. I picked one up off the show room floor, with 64Km on the clock for $26500 drive away, Black with silver stripes, and had the dealership remove them, at no extra cost.
