Is it legal to remove the centre muffler in this model range and does it provide a good sound?

Why would you wanna remove the middle muffler?
or did you mean the small one at the start of the intermediate piece between the cat and the large muffler?

yer i meant the large one in the middle that hangs down a bit... i've currently got a 2.5" system but i reckon it sounds a bit puncy. It will never sound like dads mkii xr8 but i did want a gruffer sound. So yer its good as its legal as i read somewhere about a minimum amount of mufflers that have to be installed on the car and the noise level has to be below a certain level to meet EPA/ADR standards.

Errr the big one before the diff? Yeah that'll make it way louder, theoretically will give you some power, maybe, but I'm guessing it will be too loud to be legal.
