So I guess you wouldn't be terribly pleased to know that quite often on a Friday or Saturday night we ring the Police because a customer has just come in and just about knocked us out with their alcohol breath :

I have absolutely no hesitation to ring the Police on someone that is driving in a manner that could potentially kill me, my children, family member, friend or complete stranger.

Im a Type 1 diabetic and have been for over 10 years, im now 21 and have never heard such 8ulls1t in regards to a diabetic driving all over the road. I can feel when my sugar is getting low and then know that i have about 45 minutes to find the next fuel stop and generally theres always one. Even though I've had a sugar level of 2.0 I wasnt driving in any dangerous manner and actually slowed down and concentrated more. None the less you absolutly did the right thing ringing the cops as he probably would have killed some poor family on their way to holidays at the old family shack and were going to enjoy a lovely roast with nana and pop. If he was a diabetic which i highly doubt with bong pipe hanging out his mouth, he should also lose his licence for not being responsible and pulling over and calling an ambulance as thats wat id do if i was gonna pass out. And yes in NSW you need to have your diabetes runabout tested every 3 years. GP just needs to sign the form. In my opinion, and this is probably my sole opinion, driving under the influence of drugs is worse than doing 160 in a 100 zone, at least then your focused and ready for anything.... I've never used the diabetic story as an excuse and I cant see why you would, as I lead a more healthy and fun life than most of my mates. Anyways thats my 2c worth...

I have a mate, same condition, same age and has used that card a few times on police. They always end up going lightly on him if at all.

It's good hearing some positive sense for a change.

Out here you have to go every 3 years and be cleared by a doctor to say you're fit to drive, im not sure whats it's like in other states (im in WA) but it just involves blood test, eye test. ect. never had any problems getting cleared.

I DONT WANT MORE BLOODTESTS!!!!!!!

Another 100% from me. Its not just saving people's lives though, it is saving them from all forms of road trauma and disabilities they could have for life. Just like my wife has from an idiot driver.

We took it one step further and carefully boxed to the side and pulled over someone off their absolute nut one night (on ice it later turned out). They kept pulling out to overtake on a single carriageway into oncoming 100km/h traffic, putting people off the road. I was in a MR truck behind with my brother in another in front of the idiot, and on the CB. A 4wd behind heard too and we sorted it in about 25 secs with no damage. Not what I wanted to do but had no choice, someone was going to die otherwise. The cops agreed, officially we shouldn't have done it (we knew that), but they were very glad that we did. They arrived about 5 mins later and sorted it. They guy didn't even have a clue he was driving a car! No idea how he got where he was. What would have happened in that 5 mins is pretty easy to guess.

The road is no place for idiots. The less of them there are, the better chance those reasonable motorists can go about their business without being killed or maimed.

I was even a bit unsure whether to ring! (Getting someone in trouble) But, I have been caught by cops after people who have rung up for doing doughys in a dirt carpark (and told to go home (back a few years, no fine) and another time driving on mounds of dirt in a carpark... I wouldnt call cos someone was doing this sort of thing, or speeding safely or doing a burnout etc, but this is a bit different. It actually WAS dangerous!

I didnt feel in danger, being behind, but It sure could have turned ugly pretty quick with the type of driving we saw! In fact I wouldnt be suprised if I wasnt the only one who rang.

An affected driver could very well do more than bite a bum. I saw the aftermath of a crash when a drunk behind the wheel killed an elderly couple stationary at a red light. The offending car had a lot of empty tinnies on the floor. You graduated from the school of Morons with honours.
