Default AU 5l Auto question

can someone tell me which one of the auto cooling line is the pump and which is the suck! if you get me? i have been told by an auto shop i can flush the auto by putting one line in a bucket of auto fluid and the other in an empty bucket. sounds reaonable to me!

It will need to be a big bucket (both ends). The auto holds around 10 litres total, IIRC. Keep in mind the fluid is going at about 150psi and it will be hot too, so I'd use a large bucket with a lid, and tap a fitting into the lid and have a hose going from the bucket fitting to the trans pipe.

I just installed a trans cooler on the weekend, and had to work this out too; The return line is the lower of the 2 lines ie the one at the top runs the fluid from the trans to the radiator, the one at the bottom sends the fluid back to the trans from the radiator.

Oops - reverse that. I just checked on the car, and the return line is the upper one.

Easy way to tell is start the car, put it in D for 10 seconds, then turn off. The hot pipe is the supply line and the cool line is the return line.

Thanks JC. I have to be sure first go. as you would know i have had the water in auto drama. the gearbox shop said i may be lucky if i can flush the auto before i select a gear. they said to drain it first, leave it for a day or two then do the bucket trick so that as soon as the car starts the water/oil mix will hopefully pump out.

by what i have heard it wont work but its worth a try. the car only went about 10k's when i noticed the auto fluid in the water and it has been parked ever since(14 months) so you never know!
