While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

Thanks dave351cid.....yeah the hoist thing is pretty cool. .....trying to get across how suspension relates to the "everyday" sceanario is always a challenge but I think the hoist and outside/workshop idea has worked. Thanks for your feedback.

Good video, Neil does a great job as always but... no mention of the Watts Link??!!??!

The XA appears to be a good package, worth considering.

Lee Holdsworth is the highest placed Holden driver? Come on Neil, pay attention!

I had a serious run in with a pedders branch that tried to take $2,000 out of my pocket for stuff that wasn't wrong with the car.
that was three years ago and has kept pedders from having me as a customer for life

Sorry to hear that SVR73 the 1 thing that can't always be controlled is the people in the group but as always there are 2 sides to every story. Hope some more time might help or try a different store if you can no 2 stores are the same as the people in them differ from store to store.

Hi SVR73.....very sorry to hear that. Although it is 3 years ago I would really appreciate a PM with your story as we always like feedback and take the bad with the good. Of the handful of complaints we get back to state and head offices per year the majority relates to customers who have taken their cars in a check at Pedders, received a report and then taken it elsewhere for a second check which is a lesser amount. Pedders people have been trained when diagnosing cars in 28-point checks to fail an item that they believe will fail or become a major issue within the next 6 months or 10,000kms. Generally the main reason why sometimes a Pedders store will "overservice" compared to many other workshops is that many other workshops sometimes have a greater window for what is acceptable wear or problem, or simply because our shops specialise in suspension we witness problems that can occur and we go down the conservative route. Although the end result is some differences in opinions and complaints I would personally prefer our group to be conservatively "overservicing" than vice-versa as complaints are easier to deal with than injuries or worse that can result from worn steering and suspension that is not alerted to and not fixed. We have also received complaints from customers for the reverse situation...where one of our stores has not picked up on items that the second opinion did.

.....and at the end of the day our 28-point check is completely "obligation free". This may have nothing to do with SVR73's indiviudal problem but this is the main reason we get complaints....which generally are very few. I look forward to your PM SVR73.

A young apprentice finally bought his dream car back in about 2002. He proudly drove his fairly neat XE ESP 302 Auto into work after getting it insured with a lowering certificate from Pedders. He puts it on the hoist and there were the shiny new Pedder red shocks on all four corners. I commented "well it is hardly an ESP anymore". He was unaware how good the original Bilsteins were and desperately tried to get them back. Two days after the shocks were fitted he rings and demands his old shocks back but is told they have been thrown away. (Yeah right!)
This post is not meant to disrepute all Pedders in general as honesty and integrity can vary from franchisee to franchisee. I just found it sad that this one in particular had taken advantage of someone young and a little gullible.

Hi all...thanks for your posts and again it is unfortunate that some of you have received unsatisfactory experiences from Pedders....we are not perfect but want to try and get better. Rather than having a bad experience and doing nothing about it (other than posting it on a forum) I would really appreciate a PM with your story and the store involved so I can prevent problems in the future.....as I have said before we service around 200,000 customers a year nationally so I fully expect some issues!

Im a little at loss what the 2 recent posts here have to do with this sponsor, if you have an issue take it to pm with the sponsor.

Seems everyone thinks its an opportunity to have a whinge and I for one am sick of it, specially when when we get one side of the story.

Back on topic, warnings will be issues otherwise
