My phone plan on the 6100 i got 2 yrs ago runs out in 2 months and i would like to update. I've been looking at the Motorola E1000 and it looks like it'd suit me fine (parents recently got 2 of these on a plan) Has any one had any experience with this phone or could recommend any others?
Also, the 6100 is worth about $200now, what would i be able to sell this for, and are numbers transferable between phones and phone companies as i'd be looking at going thru 3 with the $49 cap as some of my bills have been up to $70 a month. Thanks for your help, -James |

Generally speaking numbers are transferrable, even doing it with pre-paids now.
To be certain I would speak with the service provider of choice, as they are really the only ones who can give you a definite answer, on that. The SIM card should work from one phone to the other these days, but if changing providers a new SIM may be needed.

Those may be fine & dandy but the busy executive like James may appreciate the extra battery life these babies offer.

And come decision time James dont forget to tick the box marked bluetooth, because for only two thirds of the price of the handset, you can buy a nifty accessory earpiece like the one pictured.
These devices allow you to assume the persona of creature that is half cyborg, half tosspot, all while balancing a battery from one ear. Last edited by RED_EL_XR8; 31-08-2005 at 01:42 PM. |

That Motorola is a good choice (the one from this millennium), 3G and Bluetooth future proof it pretty well, personally (slightly biased) I would get a Sony Ericsson K600i or K750i

I'm currently on 3, and I don't really know if it'd recommend it... the Indian call centers give you the s, constantly trying to sign you up to everything under the sun, despite saying "no". Most phones are also sim locked, which I think it just plain rude, especially if it's on a plan.
If I were you, I'd pick up a Sony Ericcson K750i on Optus or Telstra or someone. I've got a Z1010 on 3, and I can't fault it nor kill it, despite numerous attempts. The only thing I've got against it is the size, but then that's applicable on all 3 phones! Whatever you do, don't get a LG mobile on 3, I've got a dead one here used for 2 months, and it wouldn't be fixed under warrenty because it had some scratches on it. The second one has been in for warrenty work twice. The Motorola's aren't bad, but aparently the battery life is dreadful. Unless you've got a fetish for video calls, stick with GSM. |

Opened the thread expecting some good advice (opinions) but got a laugh instead....
Fair trade off. LOL. Think I'll go the 6230i, 6230 is a good phone and the 6230i is an upgrade on that including a 1megapixel camera. |

i have a 6260, pretty good phone and the swivel thing is cool, no complaints with it so far though it does lose a bit of its user friendlyness with button placement..

I'm in the same boat. I'll be upgrading in a month or two when my contract runs out. I'm considering the Ericsson K750i. My current phone is a T610, which is pretty good.
